BTW, I think you are using table for the layout. THe easy way to do it is set up width % for desc and album item, then equally distribute for album item.

Flash logo/banner

I still have difficulty getting a flash logo or banner to display on the pages.
I used Dreamweaver to simply add an .swf banner/logo I made into the banner_top.tpl file. I also tried just creating a banner.html page and referenced that in the theme admin banner field, instead of using a .tpl file. In both cases the page is completely blank except that I still get the background color specified by the colorpack I'm using, but no text, no images, and no error output of any kind, just blank empty page. The page only comes back once I remove the file being referenced and turn off banner display.

I'm suspicious this is about my code and not necessarily theme related, but I'm not sure. When I place the swf in a newly created html page, it displays in my browser just fine. Could anyone please help me with this?

Again, I am only trying to get a simple flash logo .swf to display either in place of the page logo or as a banner at the top of page. Either way would work for me.

Thank you,

Christian

The file "themes/x_treme/templates/x_slideshow.tpl" is missing from the X_treme pack Version 1.0.0 and this breaks the slideshow. Another problem is the tar.gz file, you can't unpack it (at least not on an unix system) because it creates no folders, all files in the tar archive have "\" instead of "/" as separator for directories... on an unix system a "\" is just a normal character for a filename...

I still haven't found a solution to this "packs" requirements. I think somethings screwed in the install of this theme as there should be no reason for the latest version of gallery 2 and the posted version of this theme not to work.

Which sucks as I'd like to implement it for my site.

Help! I would like to install this theme, however Gallery is telling me the following:

PedroGilberto.net Gallery2 theme
Incompatible theme!
Core API Required: 7.10 (available: 7.3)
Theme API Required: 2.4 (available: 2.3)

How can I update my Core API and Theme API components?

Thanks.

Did you notice in the first message of this forum Pedro states.
"X_treme requires Gallery 2.2 (downloads)"

He has a link there under "downloads"

Check about backing up your gallery before updating.

Nope. I missed that link completely. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll go about upgrading to v2.2 and we'll see if that helps. Thanks!

Seems that there are others with this problem, but no one on the forum has an answer. So, the next question is who or how do I talk with someone who does know?

Hi Quentin,
First, in an earlier message you wrote:-
>Core API Required: 7.10 (available: 7.3)
>Theme API Required: 2.4 (available: 2.3)

>in the theme section. I've tried reinstalling the latest version of gallery even to no avail.

>Cheers,
>Quentin<

If you actually have the latest version of gallery... which ...

*****for this theme to work MUST BE gallery 2.2 *****

.... you would not have those details as you quote above.
See the link in Pedro's first message (as I mentioned in my previous message) to get the latest version.

Secondly, You sound very angry, and although it is understandable that you are frustrated, people don;t usually respond well to messages written angrily.

I hope that getting the right version of gallery solves your pronblem.
If it does not, then it will help those who can help you, if you include all of your gallery settings etc, and as much information as you can. It is a pain having to scramble back through the forum to find a problem.

How do I get confirmation of whats running.... I would have thought that if I installed the RC2 that that was what was running. I'm installing 2.2 tonight, we'll see if that makes any difference. And no I wasn't angry, but when people say you should have "x.x" installed and I know I started with a clean slate and installed the latest version then it doesn't make sense to say install the latest, but to perhaps ask me to perform something to prove it really is the latest as it should be.

So what steps do I need to perform to provide the settings?

This is not for quentinjs, but for everybody:

Please don't say that I have the "latest version". This can be very misleading to some. Does it mean the latest stable version? Does it mean last night nightly version? Does it mean the latest version from SVN? If a version from SVN is it from head/trunk or are you working on the very bleeding edge of a 2.3 branch? There is a 'latest' version almost every night. So how do we know what version you have unless you tell us.
G2.2 was just released on the same day as a user posts "latest version", does that mean he upgraded in 5 min?
All very confusing.
FAQ: What information is required when I ask for help in the forums?
G2/system information: Copy'n'paste your G2 system information from "Site Admin -> Maintenance -> System information" (you have to click "run now" to get the system information).

Hi, just installed this theme, have moved from carbon to xtreme... certainly like this one better :)

Not sure if this is where to post my questions, please tell me if not.

Have two Questions:

1. The slideshow, is there a html one, similar to the one in carbon, the JAVA one is good, but prefer a simpler one.
2. Is there a option to add the slideshow icon, again similar to carbon theme to the tool bar, like next to the "Show EXIF" button.

Thanks again, keep up the good work.

hello I really like this theme but I am getting an error on an embedded installation on vbdrupal and gallery 2.2
It looks like the theme displays correctly but have this error on top of the album view.
I do not get these errors running gallery directly and not embedded, so it looks like this only a problem with an embedded installation.

warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /gallery2/modules/core/Callbacks.inc on line 69.
warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /gallery2/modules/core/Callbacks.inc on line 69.

and then these errors are added on the photo view.
warning: Cannot use a scalar value as an array in /gallery2/modules/core/Callbacks.inc on line 65.
warning: Cannot use a scalar value as an array in /gallery2/modules/core/Callbacks.inc on line 67.

if someone could help, I would appreciate it. thanks.

I am getting the same error as geniusofthecrowd incorrectly posted in the PGTheme forum.
Does anyone have any ideas please? I have an embedded installation and my server is running extremely slow, i am guessing that may be linked to this.

Cheers

I have two questions regarding the wonderful X_treme theme:
- is there a way to download this theme as a plugin so we can get automatic updates?
- to edit the frontpage you have to edit the templates but that's obviously difficult in a multisite installation if every user wants a different frontpage, how can we solve that? Can users override that in their local directory?

(If this is not the thread or forum to ask this just let me know, I did not find a better location)

@updates: When/if it is updated it will show up in the updates of the downloadable plugins.
@frontpage multisite: that is the disadvantage of multisite. Workaround:

Just updated to G2.2 and X_Theme and liking it so far.

My version of PGTheme was customised to taste and a lot of the code stripped out once I settled on a look to boost speed so I have some work to do.

Can't get the slideshow to work on this but hope I'll figure what has gone awry out later on when I have a chance to look properly.

Also noticed the item descriptions are not displaying properly in Safari although fine in Firefox. I will check it on a winbox at work tomorrow to see. Something is out of place with the CSS on Safari it seems.

Anyway, nice work Pedro.

My videos will not play in the browser when I use this theme. If I use PGTheme they work just fine.
Here are a couple of examples:

Yep it works on IE on a Winbox which may mean something has changed in the CSS that means the usually non compliant IE can display it while the usually compliant Safari does not.

I tested the code at http://validator.w3.org and found that using this theme means your code will not be XHTML compliant so you might want to remove the button that claims it is.

Trying to validate CSS file generates an error.

In order words MICROSOFT BITES AGAIN! :(

In order to make sites work on IE, non compliant code is needed which penalises compliant browsers such as Safari. However Microsoft don't care about the standards because people use IE which forces non compliant code...and people wonder why some hate Bill Gates??

Pedro

There is a bug in the display that means the Album Titles do not line up correctly in Safari and also, the theme fails the XHTML and CSS validation test at http://validator.w3.org.

To fix the Album title bug, this property in color.css

.giTitle, #gallery h2, #gallery h3, #gallery h4
{
font-size: 1.3em;
font-weight: bold;
}

needs to be changed to

.giTitle, #gallery h2, #gallery h3, #gallery h4
{
font-size: 1.3em;
font-weight: bold;
text-align: center;
}

There are some other bits that need changing in either color or theme.css depending on whether the user displays stuff on the album page or not.

The CSS validation failure seems to be due to the use of the gallery a property but haven't looked into it in detail.

These validation failures mean that different browsers will give unexpected results and the theme should be adjusted not to display the XHTML Valid button.

Cheers.

**********EDIT FOR VERSION 1.0.1************
The edit given above is for V1.00. Pedro has updated the theme to v1.01 and this no longer applies. For v1.01, change

#gallery p {
    margin: 0.06em 0;
    padding: 0;
}

to

#gallery p {
    margin: 0.06em 0;
    padding: 0;
   text-align: center;
}

In theme.css.

Again this only applies to the titles in Safari and works as normal for other browsers anyway. Good luck!

That's the same problem I am having. I never made any changes to PGtheme to make videos work.

Hello Gaynor,

Can you add or send me a link to the colorpack for Uselect Jade. I really like the color combinations. I found your colorpacks on the gallery theme/ module demo site http://themes.gallery2.hu/. I went to your gallery and found the Uselect and Uselect Default files, but I am looking for the UselectJade set. Thank you!

On A Side Note:

Someone should put links to all the colorpacks used in the demo so users can have easy access. I noticed there are links to a few colorpacks, but where's the rest of them? Here is the current colorpack link list http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:User_Contributions#Color_Packs.

Hi AwMartian.

(This is not the forum to ask this question.
In fact i could well have missed it.)

However.
I now have all the colorpacks for the examples of the interactive Uselect Colorpack downloadable at
http://piopionz.com/gallery2/v/Uselect_Colorpack/?g2_enterAlbum=1

It is lovely to hear that you enjoy them. Thank you.

Hi AwMartian,
I apologise for "barking" about the forum.
And you are so generous as quite clearly I had myself contributed a lot on the first page about the colorpacks.

Yes the packs work with X_treme theme,
but this forum should now concentrate on Pedro's theme.

I have started a new forum about the Uselect Colorpacks.

This theme is great !!! X_tremely robust.

I do have one question.
I applied the theme to one album on my site and then proceeded to tweak it so that it matched the rest of my site.
Now that I have the one album configured properly I want to apply it to the rest of my gallery.
Is there a way to do this with out having to fill out the config section for this theme again?

Pleae let me know if this needs more clarification.

Thanks

Pedro:
There're lots of 404 errors in the icons pack. When I chose a separate icons pack. The theme always points to:
/gallery2/themes/x_treme/images/icons for some of the icons instead of:

/gallery2/themes/x_treme/images/icons/x_iconpack/ dir. Thus causing lots of 404. So I did end up:

cp -r /gallery2/themes/x_treme/images/icons/x_iconpack /gallery2/themes/x_treme/images/icons

to solve many of the 404s.

I'm still getting lots of 404s on:

/gallery2/themes/x_treme/local/images/loading.gif
/gallery2/themes/x_treme/images/icons/view_cart.gif
/gallery2/themes/x_treme/images/icons/hover/view_cart.gif

I'm using the pg_brown color pack and the x_sepia icons pack if that helps.

Thanks for the great work on this theme.

Drivindisco,

Now you have the theme configured as you want it in one album.
If you check the box at the bottom of that settup page, it will preserve the settings for all future subalbums etc of that one.

As to existing albums and others outside the configured album..... Is it really too difficult to save a copy of the configured settings in a document, then copy it to each other album.

Other than that, you could make the configuration changes in a copy of the theme, and give it a new name to be your own special theme, and make that your default theme. then just tell every album to use the default theme.

To apply to all albums you need to configure the root album and check the box that says aply to subalbums.

I also have one final question...
I have a menu bar on my site and I have been trying to format the text to make the links BOLD.
I cant seem to adjust the .css or find an area in the config for this theme that will let me do that.
Any ideas?

Here is a link to the site so you can see the menu bar Im refering to.

That did help!!! Its quite bizarre that making it bold doesnt work.

So after making this change I came across what is hopefully my last problem.
When I go to SITE ADMIN > Plugins , the page simply comes up blank.
No error message or anything just a white screen.

I am using the latest nightly snapshot.
PHP Version 4.4.4

Here are few things I saw in the error_log but they do not seem to be related to this, I am not sure though.

You shold start a new thread if this:
FAQ: I get only a blank screen when trying to view my Gallery, what's wrong?
does not help.

That did not help.
I did enable debug mode.
I am going to make a new thread.

Thanks

This theme is so nice!
2 questions though:
- what should I change to add google analytics code? can I point to a file somewhere in the the configuration?
- how can I change the width of the frame that contains the info message on the first page? Right now it has a dynamic size and is rather big...

My videos will not play in the browser when I use this theme. If I use PGTheme they work just fine.
Here are a couple of examples:

PGtheme - http://www.dragonsys.org/gallery2/v/video/test/240ZvsR1_Tue.mpeg.htm

Anyone have any ideas??

I had mentioned this earlier but I had a really hard time trying to apply this theme to all albums.

Basically after I configure the parent album and check the box [Use these settings in all subalbums that use the X_treme theme]
I then hit the save theme settings and the data never seems to submit. It basically looks to me like times out and then goes to a blank screen.
If I uncheck this box and then hit save theme settings everything applies as it should, but again that just applies to one album.

So basically if i want to use this for my stock theme I have to manually apply it to each album

The procedure described to you earlier is the way to do this. If that is not working for you, then try going into SiteAdmin and setup the theme as you want it to look like there. Once theme theme is globally setup go into each album and click the reset theme button at the bottom. This should set each album to the global theme default.

Dayo I was checking your site and noticed that you some how disbled Image Info (the java script that makes the popup when you click on an image). Can you tell me how you did that? I want to get rid of it as well.

I think there is an option to switch it off in Theme Admin but can't recollect which one exactly.

P.S I have switched my site back to PGTheme since you looked.

I am getting an error on an embedded installation on vbdrupal and gallery 2.2

I do not get these errors running gallery directly and not embedded, so it looks like this only a problem with an embedded installation.

warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /gallery2/modules/core/Callbacks.inc on line 69.

Just ran into this myself - appears to be an issue with the emergency edit item link. If you can live without the emergency edit link, just delete this code in /gallery2/modules/core/Callbacks.inc:

**delete**

Quote:
52 case 'ShouldShowEmergencyEditItemLink':
53 $check = isset($params['checkBlocks']) ? $params['checkBlocks'] : '';
54 /**
55 * @todo Remove support for check[Sidebar|Album|Photo]Blocks on next major api bump
56 */
57 foreach (array('checkSidebarBlocks' => 'sidebar',
58 'checkAlbumBlocks' => 'album',
59 'checkPhotoBlocks' => 'photo') as $oldParam => $key) {
60 if (!empty($params[$oldParam])) {
61 $check .= empty($check) ? $key : ",$key";
62 }
63 }
64
65 $block['core']['ShouldShowEmergencyEditItemLink'] = false;
66 if (isset($params['permissions']['core_edit'])) {
67 $block['core']['ShouldShowEmergencyEditItemLink'] = true;
68 foreach (explode(',', $check) as $key) {
69 foreach ($theme['params'][$key . 'Blocks'] as $entry) {
70 if ($entry[0] == 'core.ItemLinks') {
71 $block['core']['ShouldShowEmergencyEditItemLink'] = false;
72 break 2;
73 }
74 }
75 }
76 }
77 return null;

**/end delete**

Also, for Drupal embedded, you can get an error warning when the photoNavOver buttons are enabled and you click on a first or last photo, where there is no previous or next photo. To fix this, go into x_treme/templates/photoNavOver.tpl and change this:

Quote:
{if $nextImage.thumbnail.width > $nextImage.thumbnail.height}
{assign var="nextImageLinkWidth" value=$navPicWidth}
{else}
{assign var="nextImageLinkWidth" value=$navPicWidth*$nextImage.thumbnail.width/$nextImage.thumbnail.height|string_format:"%d"}
{/if}

{if $backImage.thumbnail.width > $backImage.thumbnail.height}
{assign var="backImageLinkWidth" value=$navPicWidth}
{else}
{assign var="backImageLinkWidth" value=$navPicWidth*$backImage.thumbnail.width/$backImage.thumbnail.height|string_format:"%d"}
{/if}

to this:

Quote:
{if $nextImage}
{if $nextImage.thumbnail.width > $nextImage.thumbnail.height}
{assign var="nextImageLinkWidth" value=$navPicWidth}
{else}
{assign var="nextImageLinkWidth" value=$navPicWidth*$nextImage.thumbnail.width/$nextImage.thumbnail.height|string_format:"%d"}
{/if}
{/if}

{if $backImage}
{if $backImage.thumbnail.width > $backImage.thumbnail.height}
{assign var="backImageLinkWidth" value=$navPicWidth}
{else}
{assign var="backImageLinkWidth" value=$navPicWidth*$backImage.thumbnail.width/$backImage.thumbnail.height|string_format:"%d"}
{/if}
{/if}

Hope this helps. If someone comes up with a real fix for the emergency edit item link it would be nice to know.

Cheers

...

And about a zillion other lines choking my error log...
There has got to be a fix for this, every thing is installed and working fine, and all the images seem to show up fine. Others have reported this as well.

My guess is something in the CSS and all the folders messed up some place referring to a path.

Having just installed the latest gallery I thought I would give 'Xtreme' a look.... phew! excellent work as usual from Pedro... but noticed that the display of Photo properties (Exif data) still needs for the window to close if you want to swap between summary and details as it does in Carbon
