Hi pgilbert,

I like the theme a lot, so I made a donation for that. I have it running on my site for a few months now. As I am using Apple's Safari and/or FF2 I never noticed something that more and more people report to me. And that is that in IE6/7 especially the homepage takes more time to load. In the statusbar you see a counting process "xxx items remaining" of 500+ items. The counting itself goes fast on newer machines but interaction with the homepage is very slow. In the admin section same thing, but over 3000 items. In other albums aswell, but not that many items. Overall, my site is noticably slower in IE than FF2/Safari.
I would very much appreciate your answer on this wwhere to look of what to alter. I didn't turn on too many "show options" as far I would say. Please let me know if you need any information on my settings.

Gallery: 2.2.3 with x_treme theme 1.0.4

Thanks a lot,

Hi Jeffrey,

this is a known problem of version 1.0.4. It's caused by integration of a not proper working iepngfix. For details have a look at http://gallery.menalto.com/node/61330?page=6#comment-252129.
I would recommend you to upgrade to version 1.0.5 of Pedros amazing theme - this problem is fixed there.

Regards,
Jens

Hello,

my problem:
(1) I create album X
(2) I create a subalbum Y in X
(3) I upload pictures into album X and subalbum Y

On the photo view of album X, there are the "micro navigation thumbnails", and they work fine - but they also show the subalbum Y as picture. If I have 10 pictures in album X and a bunch of pictures in subalbum Y, the micro navigation thumbnails show 11 thumbnails: 10 of ablum X, and the highlight of subalbum Y.

That is a bit confusing for people browsing the album X on the photo view page .. is there a possibility to exclude subalbums from that view? Changing the [EXTREME FRAME :: Enter a PREFIX/SUFIX to display at "Album title"] option in the admin page (e.g. to "++" or smth) doesnt change anything.

Hope I made my point clear enouhg.
Thanks
ta-ta
T.

EDIT: Where can I edit the "▪ portfolio ▪" symbols around the names of albums (I hope it displays properly here - I mean those little points before and after the name)?

Hello,

First thanks again to Pgilbert for this great theme...

I would like to optimize my ranking on Google Image and I see that there is not "alt" on images. Images are "div background".
Is it possible to have an alt on images ? (with or without the navigation system)

Thanks a lot

Nico

Hello all....

I've been using Pedro's themes for years, and have a new bug, or oddity. Any insight would be most appreciated.

The issue is the layout of only the front page of my gallery.

http://www.idyll.com

After upgrading to the latest version of this theme, I cannot configure the front page to use 2 x 2 thumbnails. It refuses to do so, despite being configured as such.

I can configure four across, or two on the first page, followed by two on the second. For literally years I ran with 2 x 2 thumbnails.

Quite confusing. Thanks for your thoughts.

regards,
patrick

Hi all,

I have several things I can't figure out how to do. I wonder if any of you can help me.

1) "Show album owners" won't turn off. I untick it, but when I save the theme settings it gets automatically ticked again. Is this a bug or am I missing something.

2) I can't stop the buttons in the footer from appearing. Their boxes are unticked, but they are still there.

3) I want guests to be able to see the comments left on images and albums. Apparently I need to enable some permissions to do this. I can't for the life of me figure out where and how to do this.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Sincerely

Luben

(1) + (2) Are you sure you are on the root album, on the most top album, not in some subalbum when you configure it?

(3) Go to your Main Gallery Page (in Admin mode); in the right corner you should have "Add items | Album" or something. Click on "Album", in the left tab you should have "permissions" then. In the permissions, change to whatever you like.

Hi pgilbert, or anybody that can help,
I think this is my 1st posting here, please excuse me if i post in a wrong place and my poor English.

I was using Gallery 2.2.1 with X_treme v1.0.4. Since some time last month i realized that i was unable to save the X_treme Theme Settings in the Site Admin. Example, normally after we have make some new settings for the theme and click on the [Save Theme Settings] button on the bottom of the page, then it will normally show Successfully saved theme settings. It won't show now and the settings is remain unchanged. And also the browser url will go to http://www.edvineng/gallery/main.php but i'm still in the Gallery Themes page

So, i decided to upgrade my gallery to 2.2.4 and X_treme v1.0.5. Thank God, my gallery is successfully upgraded without any error. But still, i can't save any theme settings changes. It was working fine when i tried with matrix or carbon. I tried with IE instead of Firefox, cannot still. I uninstall all the 3rd party modules also cannot. I don't get any javascript error; I try to change the settings by album instead of global settings, or set X_treme as non-default theme, all doesn't work :( The only way it work is when i changed the database value in g2_PluginParameterMap.

Is anybody experience this? Can anybody tell me how solve this problem?
I really love this theme and i wish i can continue to use this theme.

I am so frustrated now... please help me and brighten up my day... PLEASE~
Million thanks; terima kasih; 谢谢; dhanyavad; arigatô; kam sah hamnida; grazie; merci; danke; gratias agimus; obrigada; gracias; ขอบคุณคะ; thanks y'all!!!

in your css theme.css:

.giTitle, {
    text-align: center;
    font-size: 1.3em;
    font-weight: bold;
}

remove the comma and you will be able to make changes after you make the changes below:

at the top you have:

font-size: xx-small;
/* false value for WinIE4/5 */
voice-family: "\"}\"";
/* trick WinIE4/5 into thinking rule is over */
voice-family: inherit;
/* recover from trick */
font-size: x-small

you will have to remove or change the bold. Then you will have to adjust other font sizes as it will effect other locations.

Okay now, I posted this help request a while back in another forum, I guess this would be a better place.

X_treme theme, newest versions of plugins "link items", "tags", "URL rewrite" and "dynamic albums" - but I cannot browse dynamic albums properly. If I click on an item in a dynamic album, I get back to the "static" gallery where the picture is located.

But it works with the matrix theme.

X_treme links to:
http://www.revelation-of-silence.com/gallery/v/hidden/backyard+burgers.jpg.html
(WRONG)
Matrix theme links to:
http://www.revelation-of-silence.com/gallery/tag/cities?g2_itemId=697
(same picture, but still in the tag album -> CORRECT)

I have option "browse dynamic albums" enabled, but it doesn't work properly ..

Does anyone have similar issues? Is anyone able to help me? I have reinstalled all addons, cleared cache, optimized database ... I'm not sure what to do anymore.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi there-

Here's a strange problem...

Whenever i set x-treme to default for my gallery, my folder structure goes wacky. parent folders will only show a deeply nested folder instead of any others within. i do not have this problem with any other theme.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Hey There,

I'm Using "Gallery 2.2.4 (full)" with the "X_treme pack Version 1.0.5 (Full)" and Wordpress 2.3.3.
Got some Trouble that I could not manage to Fix.
That's the Gallery2 Page without Wordpress http://klapprade.de/www/editha.net_gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=391

Tried to find the right settings in the "theme.css" but it only got messy. Tried it for two days now.
Now I deleted all "tries" and copyed a fresh version of the X_treme pack to the server.

I colored the Tables green using the "Web Accessibility Toolbar (1.0)"
How can I manage to get rid of the whitespaces at Position 1. 2. and 3.?

How can I manage the “owner” not to be shown. I uncheckt the option in the setting and saved it, but it semes not to
change (used the very last button on that page to save. Not the top one). I also tried to set the option in the “theme.inc”
'showGalleryOwner' => 0, 'showImageOwner' => 0, 'showAlbumOwner' => 0, 'showItemsOwner' => 0,
It did not help.

[img]http://kisd.de/~martinb/foren/Gallery2.2_x_treme_theme.png[/img]

Thanks for every hint.

Hello.

My suggestion for all such troubleshooting, especially layout and .css issues is to install FireFox. Then load the Web Developer add-on.

You will then be able to identify the precise areas of .css you need to modify to your liking.

hope this helps.

regards,

patrick

If you work with firefox, get the "FireBug" plugin - it's more intuitive to use and in regard of CSS/styling more powerful than the web-dev tool.

I'd like to add a button to the picture page to print via digibug - is this built within the theme (I can't find it) if not, is it difficult to add?

Hi Guys, has anyone seen this ? I put a password on an album. When I open the album with IE, I get this grey bar in front of the password field. Password characters are also not shown. As usual, on Firefox i don't have this problem.
I use the latest x_treme with charcoal colorpack.

Please ignore the red arrows on the picture. the problem is the light grey bar.(this page was taken off my customer tutorial).

[img]http://www.aquafoto.eu/bestanden/3e_extra_pagina.jpg[/img]

Can anyone help me with this, I don't know where to look for this probem. Thanks

it is http://www.aquafoto.eu

the protected album is at photoshoots>centerparcs>

And you are correct, I just saw the post about the weird grey bar; they claim it is solved in G2.3 But I am not going to use experimental G2 versions for a live site offcourse...

Well Dave, it is this post: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/70373 But I was wrong about the 2.3 release. Anyway I upgraded to 2.2.4 yesterday and the problem persists. I did my fair share of searching this forum, but perhaps I am missing the solution.

Edit: N/m.....i delete the cache and it is running better now, still not building thumbnails properly but that isnt a theme issue

must have just been something in the cache making the theme go a bit weird

Thanks.

I'm having a rough time attempting to bring up a completely new instance of gallery2 with x_treme theme.

The issue is this - the theme will not hold any settings nor will it show any colorpacks. The other themes, the generic ones included with the build, work fine.
In addition, I can set x_trmee theme settings in the admin panel, but when I save them and return to the gallery the settings are lost, they do not persist.

I am spoiled with this x-treme theme because of the degree of customization it imparts. However, on a clean new build with the latest of each, the theme is badly misbehaving. I have been running Pedro's themes for years, and this latest version (on my present host) for over a year - it behaves. I am also not unfamiliar with it.

Now, like I said, with a clean build of gallery 2 and the latest version of x_treme theme- it is essentially not usable.

Has anyone else seen a similar issue with a new installation?

regards,
patrick

Hello.

It's a placeholder the comments. If you delete the comment option it will go away. If you add a comment, it will populate the area, etc.

Running several G2 sites all off the one master. Each is using different theme and features.

On my site (http://www.widget.me.uk/gallery2/main.php) I get a whole raft of error text at the foot of the pages that have tags content. Looks like the stuff below. Fortunately it's in black on black so no-one sees it.

Does anyone have any idea how I could progress fixing this?

Running xtreme v 1.0.5 released 22/1/2007 and just installed tags 1.3.6 which fixed some faults on a different instance on this site.

You should only see that text when you are login in as admin. It is a tags module issue. you can fix that if you wish, bu this thread is for this theme not that module.

Well for sure I guess I shouldn't see that text at all - whether logged in as admin or not.

Actually I see it both when logged in, and when not logged in.

And I don't see it on any other theme.

So I conclude while this may, or may not, be a bug in the tags module, it is one that is only shown up with this theme.

But then I guess as my other theme based sites don't use tags, I cannot tell.

So maybe you're right and it isn't them based.

Either way

You suggest I can fix it "if I wish". Well I do wish, and I sure would appreciate some clue on how to do so. Perhaps you could guide me on which forum will be able to offer some help on this?

I don't see the extra text of the link provided. So It is difficult to diagnose when I can't see the issue.
I will install this theme and see what I can see.

Please see my post a few before this. SOMETHING has broken the installation of x_treme theme on some servers or configurations of recent vintage. I have the same issue as you.

I have converted to use Matrix theme, which after customization, is a good substitute in appearance but not function. The core issue is breakage and only Pedro can fix it - when he gets the time.

patrick

I'm having the same problem as Torvon above

Quote:
X_treme theme, newest versions of plugins "link items", "tags", "URL rewrite" and "dynamic albums" - but I cannot browse dynamic albums properly. If I click on an item in a dynamic album, I get back to the "static" gallery where the picture is located.

I also have the "browse dynamic album" option selected and use keyword albums with URL rewrite.

Has any one been able to fix this problem?

Thanks for your help - and thanks for a great theme!

Hello young7779,

I've tried to solve the issue for over 8 weeks now, with Floridave and jens_k assisting me. Unfortunately, we haven't come up with a solution, so I stopped working at my gallery for now :(
Please please please let me know if you manage to solve the problem.

Hi!

I'm using X_treme theme as a embedding theme for G2 embedded into Joomla!. I think its a nice theme for embedding because the high level of customization.
However, I have one problem. I can't figure out how to display the blocks (i.e. Show comments, EXIF info, etc) on the bottom of the PHOTO pages. I have tried all different settings for the blocks in the theme config, none seems to enable the blocks on the PHOTO pages. I have succeeded enabling the blocks on the ALBUM pages.
Which settings should I use to display blocks on the PHOTO pages?

Thanks

Hi,
After upgrading to 2.2.4 I got problems with Panorama View (using PG Theme). The table width for the applet was same as width of photo, far to wide...
I changed to X_treme, and now I can't get the Panorama applet to work at all (works fine with Matrix)

Any clues?

Addition: I reinstalled X_treme, and now pano applet is loading and working, but applet is put in an table with same table width as photo.
Panorama applet is now turned off until I get this sorted out, but an example can be found here:
http://maputo.visitusinmaputo.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1849
Panorama view using the applet works fine in Matrix.

Please help

Muito obrigado / Thanks a lot!

This is a damned fine theme.

I really love the effect in Debaser when you mouse over a gallery.

Is there any chance I can somehow get that feature to work in this theme? What about Litbox (http://www.ryanjlowe.com) , Lightbox 2, or any other nifty visual js tricks from http://script.aculo.us/ or something?

I am using the X-Treme theme 1.0.2 What I want to do is add a navigation to the mini thumbs page. Here is a link to the page in question. http://daredeviltattoo.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1044
As you can see, It looks like there are just 20 thumbnails here. But really there are about 70 i think. Just below the thumbnails in the bottom right corner, you can see double arrows, they show that there are more thumbnails to go to. But the arrows dont do anything. I would like it if there are more thumbnails on the page than can be displayed, that a page navigation shows up that says "Page 1, 2, 3, 4, .." that would let you know what page you are on and would allow you to click to the next page. Is this possible? Is it already built in?

On my gallary, I'm using PicLens (http://www.piclens.com) instead of existing slideshow. Bacause of this, I want to change the link (theme slideshow or slideshow applet) to something like this:

Quote:
<td class="gsActionIcon">
<div class="buttonViewSlideshow"><a href="javascript:PicLensLite.start();"></a></div>
</td>

I've searched through the tpl files, but cant figure out here to put it. Please help

My gallery install broke when my webhost changed companies, servers, and OSes ages ago, and I keep meaning to reinstall and fix it, and just never had. We've just kept out photos on Snapfish. I'm determined to reinstall and user Gallery again, I just haven't found a perfect theme I really love. However, I am digging the xtreme theme, and especially your implementation at http://jekophoto.eu/gallery/

I'm going to ask a few stupid questions, but what module or option is giving you the little mouse over "i" for Image Info? I also really the dig the "why to register" button you have on the front page. Though, it should probably read "Why register" or "Why you should register" in English. Either way, I'm curious if you just added that with a few lines of javascript, or if that was an option in xtreme I haven't seen yet.

Thanks!

Hi enderandrew,

first I want to thank you. My english could (and should be better) - I will correctt the "Why register" ;-)
The little mouse over "i" was yet implemented. I am using an modified version of these components:
- theme: X_treme theme
- colorpack: X_charcoal
- iconpack: x_treme(gif)
At the moment I am not sure (but I suppose) it was within the colorpack.

My "Help" and "Why register" buttons are part of my modifications. You are right, they are added by using some extra lines of javascript in the file album.tpl.

If you need further information feel free to contact me.

Best regards,
Jens

Thanks. I think both those additions are very helpful. I would love to see your modified .tpl file. You can email it to me at enderandrew at gmail dot com

With taking my album.tpl you would loose some flexibility in the configuration of the theme. It is too heavily modified and stripped down to my requirements. I will prepare a clean album.tpl with these two additions for you.

Cheers,
Jens

I want to thank you all for the work. I love this theme. However, I am having trouble with Safari. The Title is missing all together and the Hover links on the photo page are just stuck there. Also, there is "hover opacity" on any page. I've looked through here for some help. I am running Gallery 2.2.4 with Xtreme 1.0.5. Any help would be very much appreciated. In FF everything looks perfect. I don't have IE (I use a Mac) so I have no idea how it looks there. The website in question is Phrogdriver.com.
