The road ahead for Gallery
Submitted by bharat on Fri, 2004-07-23 07:58
With the introduction of Gallery 2 we are presenting the future of our web based photo management product. Gallery 2 was designed to be a complete replacement for Gallery 1, rewritten from scratch to address weaknesses in the design and implementation of original product. By starting over we ensure that we have an architecture that is secure, scalable, reliable and modular. We opened up the way that we present the user interface so that we now have a much more flexible and customizable experience than we had in the past. As with Gallery 1, it is fully internationalized so that it can be translated into many languages.

Gallery 2.0 Alpha 1 (Cowbell) released!

Gallery 2.0 Alpha released!
After 2 years and 2 months of steady development, we are proud to release the alpha version of Gallery 2.0! Code named Cowbell, this is a technology release designed to let you get an idea of how the product is shaping up. It's stable and reliable, but does not yet have all the features that you will find in Gallery 1.4.4 and is not yet ready for a production environment.
Download the latest code and play with it! Before you ask for help, please, please read the README -- we've made an effort to answer all of your questions there. Especially read the known issues section. Then head on over to the G2 Forums and let us know what you think!
The more feedback you give us now, the better the final version of G2 will be. Thanks for your continued support!

Gallery turns 4!
Submitted by bharat on Fri, 2004-06-18 07:09
On this day, 4 years ago, Bharat created the Gallery project on sourceforge.net. Back then, Gallery was just a little script he had written to share a few photos with his family. Today it is a feature packed application used on over 100,000 web sites with a 20+ person development team. We've come a long way!
The best is still to come, though. Gallery 2 is just around the corner from going alpha and Gallery 1 is still under active development with new features arriving in every release. We couldn't do it without our users so thanks to all of you for your continued support and we hope that you'll stay with us for another 4 more years!
