Has anyone else noticed this theme doesn't work with the latest version (3) of shadowbox. I was running the theme fine until I ran the upgrader and it said I was running version one and version 3 was available, so i upgraded. Now all of the popup box features like ServerAdd are broken.

Ok. I guess I am too quick to post recently... I realized the ShadowBox module had been deactivated after the upgrade. one I activated it, it works fine. Is it always the case that modules get deactivated after being upgraded?

version 1.5.8 posted

  • Sidebar session cookie is set to expire in 365 days
  • Finally admin module for theme is there. After theme installation, visit Appearance/Theme Options to configure the theme.
If you had older version of the theme, initial setup is also required.
    The following settings are available:

    • Rows per album page - theme uses 3 columns layout for pictures, therefore default page_size is computed in x3 increments
    • Thumb size is restricted to 200 and therefore not available for administration
    • Mark to build resizes/thumbs - allows force rebuilding of images
    • Show/Hide top/bottom photo navigators
    • Specify allowed and default sidebar position
    • Administrator can now specify Copyright message to display in the footer
    • Site logo is now default to Gallery 3 logo, but admin can provide a path to custom logo.
    • Admin module validates Theme's requirements (Shadowbox module need to be installed/active)

Thank you!
I've found it resizes better than version I'd been using - when I tried making browser window before, columns bunched into two with another overlapping, but now ok.
Also, for some reason, I wasn't seeing cooliris slideshow link before; now do so.

Added text to footer inc theme copyright.

@DocMartin: what browser are you using?
yes, Slideshow link was not rendered properly for a few versions. Now it is fixed.

PS. I love the show. How is Louisa doing? How is a newborn? :)

Hah! - I was Dr Martin before any tv show came on the scene.

Using Firefox (on Mac)

I think the text " cooliris slideshow" would be helpful, too (at least, option of also having text): think that for many users, symbol alone too cryptic.

:) Sorry!
Ok, in general I am doing just validation testing under FF (to check W3C validation) so please let me know when you see any problems in this browser. Chrome even more untested at this time.

I do not control Hint text for buttons per se and would need to hack into module code for that.
I think it would be better if you file a ticket for it to be changed in the main code.

I've just done forum post re text in slideshow button; tho think I've mentioned it before.

Seeing you are hard at work on this theme, perhaps I can throw in another idea. On G2, I had theme (Carbon?) on which, when viewing an image, there was selection of tiny thumbnails of other photos in album; remember a friend of mine saying he liked this feature. Again, I've no idea if tough to implement, but might be worth considering something like this.

You can do the same thing the Carbon and all other themes did, take the thumb and force the dimensions smaller :) So as for how easy or tough it is to implement, it should be easy so long as the theme at the page level has access to the information about the thumbs around it, which I think it does.

Serge D has posted a request about microthumbs, but I'm pretty sure G2, scratch that, 100% sure, G2 never generated microthumbs, just took the thumbnail and scaled down dimensions.

@Doc Martin, yes, I was thinking about it and asked if it is possible to have a) square thumbs (right now I am doing clipping in my theme), b) have a possibility for micro-thumbs. But nivekiam is right we could reuse existing iamage thumbs and scale them (except they are not square...) So some work needs to be done here.

@nivekiam: as I mentioned in another thread, problem is to make them square... no resize rule support for it as of yet.

On the second thought, I may use clipping to make it square as well. It is just some information would be lost... but it probably not a big deal :)

And cropping thumbs square always seems to lose info too. I'll be watching this to see what you come up with as I'm interested in that :)

You can still add the photo, there is an area which is clickable but not highlighted (see ss included - red box) - for some reason I cannot make it pop...

when I modify a photo the result is a white page with this text: {"src":"\/Gallery\/var\/thumbs\/Cena_pre_DressCode\/DSCN0464.JPG?m=1260823573?rnd=29706","width":113,"height":150}. I must go back previous page to view the changes.

a) Are you modifying or adding?
b) I have tried adding and then modifying photo properties (not a name of the file though) - it works for me
c) what is a version of the theme?
d) or ... are you trying rotate the photo?

PS. I am on the version from Git as of last week

First let me say I'm a complete noobie. I've been looking for something simpler and more elegant to host my website (http://www.kcscsports.net) with. I'm convinced this is the way to go. I'd like to be up and running by next Fall, so I've got some time to invest in learning the ins and out of Gallery3.

Now,

I've read all the messages I can find on this module and have it installed in my modules folder and I've put the shadowbox folder(3.0RC1) in my website root folder.

When I change my theme to the GreyDragon theme all I'm seeing is a blank page. I have no doubt I've done this wrong, but don't have a clue on what I should have done.

Could I get a little guidance?

I'm running this on a MacMini server with Snow Leopard Server (10.6.2) installed.

I've been playing with the features that are available and love what I'm seeing.. now to get to the figuring it out.

Judging by the symptoms it looks like you are using Official Beta 3
My theme requires latest experimental code of G3 available here [http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Upgrading].

download page lists 1.6.1.....

also, I noticed something..not sure if you're aware of it or not, but when uploading photos I see this (see attached) the completed photos are basically listing themselves on top of each other.

I also just noticed that the breadcrumb is way off, too.

see here:
http://gallery.andrewshemo.com/index.php/

and click on PAFOA...the breadcrumb shows

gallery > miscellaneous photos > political photos > pafoa photos

it should simply show:

gallery > pafoa photos

it gets screwed up when also clicking on sub-albums within the pafoa photo main album.

I do not know what going on with your breadcrumbs. It is default code which I do not control/modify.
I will check if this issue will surface with very latest git.

To fix the breadcrumbs run the rescue module:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:rescue

It's some bug related to some obscure set of events in upgrading from some previous git code (not a beta milestone release), it only existed for a short bit and has affected a few people. Bharat figured out what happened and created that module to fix it.

I actually ended up just deleting the entire album and redoing it. I didn't have many photos within the album anyhow.

If you run into that behavior again, just run the rescue module and it'll be fixed.

Thanks it's up and running.. and I'm trying to learn how to customize this theme. Very nice I might add.

I have found that if I enable the basket module the search button (maginfying glass) over laps the cart icon. Don't know who to inform about this so I thought I'd better tell both.

Any third party modules could become incompatible with the theme is uses its own positioning
Please keep posting on issues with 3rd party layouts and I will see if theme could accomodate it.
Standard modules would be supported out of the box.

Serge..I cannot get videos to play in your theme..

example link:
http://gallery.andrewshemo.com/index.php/Miscellaneous-Videos/Car-Videos/mymalibuwithexhaust

doesn't work in your theme, but works just fine in the default gallery 3 theme.

@Shemo: Yes, it was not enabled in the theme. Look for it in upcoming 1.6.3 (see sample here)
(Soon... I need to do some code merging to work properly with Kohana 2.4 update)

example of properties of a thumbnail

Latest git is required for latest version.

@dreamkiller: resize of the files is hardcoded and theme is using $thumb_size = 200; (look for it in admin\admin_theme_options.php)
If you just switched from another theme which does not use the same dimensions, then just click on "Mark to build all thumbnails" under Theme Options in admin panel. This would force rebuild of thumbs to be fit 200x200. Notice that vertical size is actually shorter (200x150) and I have to crop the portrait format images.

@rafiks: My theme does not use default JS/CSS from [wind] theme (ex: no JS in menus, etc). I am trying to have as little JS/CSS overhead as possible, this may contribute to be more responsive.
Theme hides rotation menus because it could be bad in general (see here between 2009-12-14 16:59 and 2009-12-16 08:41)

I'm having issues adding photos to an album. I'm running on Mac OS X 10.6.2, Apache 2.2.13, PHP 5.3. I'm getting to the dialog for adding photos but the link isn't working. I'm attaching a screenshot.

What version of the Gallery are you using? Is JS allowed?
Screen should look like one attached.

Edit: there is area in the middle of the top area which is clickable but not highlighted to allow upload - cursor would become a "hand" when hovered over.
Edit: Also please make sure that Shadowbox module is installed and activated
