Schneide:
Thank you for your info on the lightbox implementation. I have followed your instructions to a "T", but I am having problems and not sure what the cause is (yes I am a nOOb ) When I open my gallery, all my albums show up, then when you click on an album the lightbox starts (darkens the background) and there's a white box with a red "x" in the center in IE, but firefox just shows the white box. What am I doing wrong, I did create a folder called "local" under the "templates" folder and placed the modified files there. I did upload one image under the main "Gallery" folder, and when you click on it, it opens lightbox style, and shows the previouse button, but no close button??
I have attached my modified files for your viewing, also I have removed them from my gallery so it works properly. If you need anything else please let me know.
Any help would be appreciated, see link below for my gallery.
Great theme! I am running into a problem though. First, the first page theme doesn't change for me (main.php). It still shows the Matrix theme, once I click on an album I get the Carbon theme. Second, I changed the 'logo.gif' file and uploaded it (permissions are the same) and it doesn't change when you view an album.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hello Mincel, thanks for making such a great theme. I am sort of a newbie tweekin G2 themes. Just wondering how I can change the information on the left side of the main gallery page where by default it says:
"Gallery
This is the main page of your Gallery"
on your gallery I noticed you changed it to:
"Gallery Home
Welcome to my gallery.
I have entered the world of photography with a Canon PowerShot A75. Soon I have discovered the awesome pleasure of taking nice pictures. After learning more about photography, I upgraded to Canon PowerShot S2 IS. It was not a professional camera, but the results were very satisfying for me. Most of the pictures in this gallery were taken by S2. Currently, I have Canon EOS 350D.
I am still trying to improve myself, so please feel free to add comments to the pictures.
And please respect to the copyrights.
Enjoy the gallery!"
how can i change mine? thanks for the time and help

I'm totally confused by this theme. I really like the way it works, but I'm having the hardest time trying to get it to integrate into the Tonus theme in WP. I've looked in the .tpl files and the theme.css, but it seems like nothing I do changes/fixes the layout and formatting. Can someone show me how to change the theme to have something like this in it:
max-width: 90%;
min-width: 700px;
Right now it just takes up half the available space and the sidebar is squished. It would be nice if the sidebar had a min-width too.
[EDIT] Correction, not really the sidebar, but the stupid Gallery/Album/Photo label that prevents the entire viewing area from being pictures. Tonus and Carbon seem to be a perfect match, if only I could get the embedded part to format correctly!
Adding "width=1200px;" to "#Gallery" seemed to widen the gallery body out, but I'd like it variable and to match the tonus theme size. Setting it to "width=100%" does nothing, ie keeps it at the whatever fixed setting that its at. Also, there appears to be about a ten pixel gap on the right side that I can't seem to get rid of either.

I know html fine, and have found where the template.tpl pulls the image in.. I just don't know what kind of code to insert there to make it clickable.

I have another question, I was adding the image block and Album Quick Links (DHTML) to the albums, but its showing up at the bottom of the page - how can i move it up so there's not a big gap?

I've intergrated the Carbon theme with Joomla and I'm using the embed color pack in order to get a white border. The only problem left to solve is changing the color of the text under each photo. Any ideas?

Another question would involve changing the background color of the gallery instead of the text. A white background with grey text would work just as well as a white text with a grey background.

The background color and text are now where I want them. We modified the CSS.
The integration into Joomla shrunk the text though and I was wondering if there was a way to fix this???
Jiveturkey, it's very easy to change the font size. Note: this topic has already been covered somewhere else in this thread. Go to gallery/themes/carbon/theme.css. Find the following block:
#gallery {
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 62.5%
color: #999;
background-color: #323232;
}
Change font-size to a higher percentage value or a fixed value (10px or 12px).
Now, I have a question, following your link I saw that "Park Photos" was in red. What file do you modify to change that font color (and size?). I believe it's h1 tag, but I can't find the file with it.

I've tried that and it doesn't actually change the font size. I've been thinking that it involves the Joomla integration but I'm not sure.
And to answer your question the font that is in red is only that way in the Joomla integrated version. The non-integrated version that we still use for administration doesn't show up that way.

Hi There.
Thanks for developing this excellent and very stylish looking theme.
My request is a very simple one, I have searched this thread carefully but as yet have found no solution. Would you be able to help?
I find that the square aspect ratio of the thumbnails on the front page of the gallery is often not appropriate for the kinds of images that I put on my gallery. How would I change the thumbnails on the front page so that they display at their correct aspect ratio and are true resized "thumbnails" of the original images, rather than cropped to 150x150 pixels.
Thanks for your time, and keep up the excellent development work.
nice theme and I really appreciate your efforts and waste of time for sharing us such nice gallery theme.
I have 2 questions/problems:
1. In my IE 6.0.29 the "shaddow" frame is showing me white space around the picture/album, even though the shaddow frame is working great in Mozilla. Any ideea why?
2. I have Gallery2 integrated in WP. So, when I click on "Sidebar" button, the sidebar is comming all the way till the center of the page and when I'm clicking Close button, the Sidebar is nnot disappering, is only moving about 100px to the left. So I edited theme.js changing variables leftmost and rightmost, so the slidebar was working fine inside WordPress page, but in when connected in admin mode obviously wasn't worked. Any ideea how to properly configure theme.js for Slidebar ?
Thanks and best regards,
Theodor

Hi radutheodor,
Here's my 2cents:
1. IEs 5 and 6 are not web-standards compliant, and as such they do not support "png" image file transparencies. One of many, many reasons to run, not walk away from IE to modern browsers, like Firefox, Safari, Opera, Camino, among others. Now, to get to your problem. I believe the picture/album shadow frame is a png graphic. IE exlplorer is one of the few remaining browsers that does not support its transparencies. This will be corrected in version 7 that supposed to be released by, well, at some point. There is a Javascript fix for IE 5 and 6. I haven't tried it, but here it is: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/
2. I had a problem with the Sidebar integrating Galley into Joomla. Here's what was recommended:
Open your theme.js file and change this parameters:
var leftmost = -190;
var rightmost = 10;
Hope that helps?

Is there a way to move album title and all of the information that appears below album thumbnail graphic to the left but only on the album pages, not photo pages. So that the information appears to the left of the thumbnail, not below it.
Awesome job with hoverbox implementation. Could you give step by step instructions on how you implemented hoverbox with Gallery and all the other modifications. Better yet, if you could post modified files, that would be very helpful. Thanks,
I am sorry that I couldn't reply the messages on time. I am on holiday since 2 weeks.
For the color and width modification theme.css is the file to be modified. If you are using Firefox, I recommend using "Web Developer" extension. You can modify the css file and see the changes real time.

Using the theme settings you can set "Blocks to show on album pages (below description)".

mikblik, you can find the modified file in page 4 of this forum posted at "Sun, 2006-05-21 19:31", I hope it works.
Mincel, since pixelzone is not responding to requests for his changes, would you mind taking a look at how to highlight the microthumbnail for the current picture? I think that's a nice enhancement to an already excellent theme. putting a frame around it, or change the opacity of it would make it obvious which photo is currently displayed.

Mincel,
Not only is your theme one of the best, it also has great support - an unmatched combination!
I still have a problem with moving album information to the right, as opposed to below the album thumbnail. Here's my original post:
"Is there a way to move album title and all of the information that appears below album thumbnail graphic to the left but only on the album pages, not photo pages, so that the information appears to the left of the thumbnail, not below it."
I modified album.tpl as you suggested on page 4, but nothing happens. I was wondering if you (or somebody else) could take a look at my album.tpl file (posted here) and maybe let me know what I am doing wrong? I am a newbie in this. From looking at the code, it seems like it should work fine.
sorry for not replying, I was busy with my real work ;-)
If you want to add the hoverbox feature to your Gallery 2.1.1 using Carbon theme 1.1.1
simly extract the content if the attached ZIP into your webserver root.
I assume your G2 installation is in /gallery2/. Make backups before!
Of course this only works if your thumbnail size is bigger as 40x40 pixels.
My thumbnail size is 75x75 pixels. If yours are bigger or smaller the hovered thumb is not well aligned anymore. This can be fixed in the hoverbox css files.
Or let me try to recap what I did to enable the hover function more in detail:
1) Upload the Hoverbox CSS files (attached) into /hoverbox/
Please not that Hoverbox is created by Nathan Smith (http://sonspring.com/journal/hoverbox-image-gallery). It's free to download. I have modified the CSS file to fit my needs.
2) Edit "theme.tpl" and add Hoverbox CSS between <head> and </head>
I still have a problem with moving album information to the right, as opposed to below the album thumbnail. Here's my original post:
"Is there a way to move album title and all of the information that appears below album thumbnail graphic to the left but only on the album pages, not photo pages, so that the information appears to the left of the thumbnail, not below it."

The file seems to be ok. Your site is not using the latest file. Could you please try deleting your template cache after modifying the file.
NOTE: The modification that we have will show the image title and other information on the right.
Hey Mincel, I really like the Gallery theme and would love to use it on my site, but I'm running into what looks like a PHP issue or something with Gallery. However, the default theme doesn't have this problem, so I'm sure it has something to do with yours. I have gallery 2.1 and installed the blackjack version.
I am getting this error when I click on an image to view:
Fatal error: requireonce(): Failed opening required '/hermes/web07/b2886/myusername/htdocs/gallery2/modules/core/classes/helpers/../../../../modules/exif/Callbacks.inc' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php-4.4.2/lib/php') in /hermes/web07/b2886/myusername/htdocs/gallery2/modules/core/classes/GalleryCoreApi.class on line 2827
This only happens when "Show photo properties" is checked. Unchecked and it works just fine.

Ok figured out that problem. I had to install the EXIF module. I guess that was pretty easy to figure out looking at the error message...duh.
So next question - I'm proud that you designed this theme, but I'd really like to replace the "gallery.mincel.com" at the top left of every page with my own logo, or just replace the wording with something else. Is it possible to do either?
Thanks!

Hi mincel,
thank you very much for this great theme! I have a problem with the actual SVN-Release and your theme. The Theme don't display the pages of albums after page 1.
E.g: Album "testpictures". 12 pictures in 2 Pages. When i click Page 2, the Link was "main.php?g2_page=2" instead of "testpictures/?g2_page=2". This will redirect me directly to the main gallery page.
Any hints?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi all.
I have installed WPG2.
When I'm accesing the gallery directly through its folder (localhost/gallery2/), I can see all four options: "Site Admin « Your Account « Logout « Sidebar" (in the top right)
When I'm accesing the gallery through WP (as a plugin inside WordPress website: localhost/wordpress/wp-galler2.php), I am able to see only TWO of this options in the top right: "Site Admin « Sidebar"
I cannot see Login button to login for example.
I've search in the code that is related to this lines:
But I cannot explain why in the WP mode I cannot see all the 4 options. These lines (from theme.tpl) are practically the same in both cases or not? How come that in one case the vector $theme.params.extraLink contain 4 links and in the other only 2 links?
Anyone can help me?
How can I manage this links? How can I make to have also "Your Account « Login/Logout" as links and/or to remove "« Sidebar" link from the top right of the page?
Thanks and regards,
Theodor
LATER EDIT/: problem somehow solved. I have read on WPG2 forum that they don't handle this problem, they recomend registration and login through WP.

radutheodor,
I used Trebuchet MS (regular, 16 pts) in Photoshop (Mac OS) to add those words and make them transparent gifs. Feel free to copy them for yourself.

skiller2k1, If you installed "URL Rewrite" module, could you please check the settings of the module? This shouldn't be related to the theme, but to be sure you can check the same thing with matrix theme.

I have deactivated the URL Rewrite module, the same thing. Page 2 is only a link to "main.php?g2_page=2" instead of "main.php?g2_itemId=12690&g2_page=2" With other themes it seems to work. (Matrix, Classic etc.)
I use the actual SVN Trunk tree from gallery2.

I find a "silly" workaround:
Authors of Gallery changes the modules/core/templates/blocks/Pager.tpl as follows:
If i change back to the old Version of this file, the links to the Pages are correct.
I hope i can help you, i have no idea of PHP programming ;)

@mincel: Thanks for a great theme! Did not take many minutes of choosing between the different themes to get yours as a favourite!
@pixelzone, liked yout hoover tweak so tried to implement it, but things did not work out... What I now have ended up with, and can not get out of although I have reinstalled the full carbon theme is miniature images that show up twice, like this:
Any ideas what went wrong or how to get things right again?
Thanks

OK,
Probably, as you said, I missed something. The strange thing is that it still looks strange with the carbon theme reinstalled, and the hoverbox folder removed... I'll send you a link in a PM to an example.

Mincel, you are the man! Carbon is the best theme ever, simply beautifull!
Still, I have a problem & a question. Don't know if it's G2's problem or Carbon's problem.
I have the resized pictures set at 600px x 400px .... perfect
But, if the original photo is smaller then 600px x 400px, on the item page I see only the thumbnail (no resized image, no original image)!!
I guess the problem is that G2 is not making any "resize" if the original is smaller then the "resized". In some other words, G2 only shrinks the images and does not enlarge them!
Can i make it enlarge the photos is the "original" is smaller then the resize setttings?
Settings I use on G2 related to the problem above:
- resized image size: 600x400
- thumbnail size: 128x128
- original viewed only by the registered members
An the question:
Is there any speed tuning for your theme? I'm really into speed display.
excuse my english ... I'm from Mars, we also call it Romania.
This is day two of trying to get Gallery up and running...finally I did it this afternoon and then I installed your Carbon Theme. It worked great until I went in pretending I knew what I was doing. I made some changes with the main.php file and now I cannot log into the admin area.
My site is [url]www.sfstudios.net[\url]
Any help from you ar anyone else would be greatly appreciated....Thanks!

I've intergrated the Carbon theme with Joomla and I'm using the embed color pack in order to get a white border. The only problem left to solve is changing the color of the text under each photo. Any ideas?
Take a look.

pixelzone, I like your changes. where or how can I get your changes?

Another question would involve changing the background color of the gallery instead of the text. A white background with grey text would work just as well as a white text with a grey background.
Posts: 43
The background color and text are now where I want them. We modified the CSS.
The integration into Joomla shrunk the text though and I was wondering if there was a way to fix this???

Jiveturkey, it's very easy to change the font size. Note: this topic has already been covered somewhere else in this thread. Go to gallery/themes/carbon/theme.css. Find the following block:
#gallery {
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 62.5%
color: #999;
background-color: #323232;
}
Change font-size to a higher percentage value or a fixed value (10px or 12px).
Now, I have a question, following your link I saw that "Park Photos" was in red. What file do you modify to change that font color (and size?). I believe it's h1 tag, but I can't find the file with it.
Posts: 43

Hi Mincel,
nice theme and I really appreciate your efforts and waste of time for sharing us such nice gallery theme.

Open your theme.js file and change this parameters:
var leftmost = -190;
var rightmost = 10;
Hope that helps?

Is there a way to move album title and all of the information that appears below album thumbnail graphic to the left but only on the album pages, not photo pages. So that the information appears to the left of the thumbnail, not below it.
Any help would be appreciated.

pixelzone,
Awesome job with hoverbox implementation. Could you give step by step instructions on how you implemented hoverbox with Gallery and all the other modifications. Better yet, if you could post modified files, that would be very helpful. Thanks,
Mikhail

Thanks a lot,
Mikhail

sorry for not replying, I was busy with my real work ;-)
If you want to add the hoverbox feature to your Gallery 2.1.1 using Carbon theme 1.1.1
simly extract the content if the attached ZIP into your webserver root.
3) Edit "navigatorMicroThumbs.tpl"
Replace the following...
...with:
I hope you like it and this guide helps.
feedback welcome!

The file seems to be ok. Your site is not using the latest file. Could you please try deleting your template cache after modifying the file.
NOTE: The modification that we have will show the image title and other information on the right.

Mincel,
Thank you for your reply.
I realized what was not working - I updated templates/album.tpl, instead of templates/local/album.tpl. No wonder it wasn't working
Thanks a lot for your help,

Thanks!

Just replace "logo.gif" in "images" directory.

Hi mincel,
thank you very much for this great theme!

Greetings & Thanks

I find a "silly" workaround:
Authors of Gallery changes the modules/core/templates/blocks/Pager.tpl as follows:
From:
<a href="{g->url arg1="view=core.ShowItem" arg2="itemId=`$theme.item.id`" arg3="page=`$page-1`"}">{$page-1}</a>To:
<a href="{g->url params=$theme.pageUrl arg1="page=`$page-1`"}">{$page-1}</a>If i change back to the old Version of this file, the links to the Pages are correct.
I hope i can help you, i have no idea of PHP programming ;)
Thanks

@mincel: Thanks for a great theme! Did not take many minutes of choosing between the different themes to get yours as a favourite!
@pixelzone, liked yout hoover tweak so tried to implement it, but things did not work out... What I now have ended up with, and can not get out of although I have reinstalled the full carbon theme is miniature images that show up twice, like this:

Any ideas what went wrong or how to get things right again?
Thanks

seems you haven't implemented the hoverbox css.
anyhow, can you send an exampple url so I can check the source code?
this would help finding the problem

OK,
Probably, as you said, I missed something. The strange thing is that it still looks strange with the carbon theme reinstalled, and the hoverbox folder removed... I'll send you a link in a PM to an example.
Thanks
