I am trying to implement Lightbox JS v2.02 and am not have any luck getting it to work.
I have tried the instructions in this thread, but can't seem to figure out what is going on.
Can someone please post exactly what needs to be changed to get G2 v2.1/carbon theme to work with Lightbox JS 2.02?
Thanks

Love the theme! One issue that has been driving me nuts though!!! When I am logged in as the admin, I am able to see a drop down box under each album with the Album Actions Drop-Down however, when using the gallery as a guest, I am unable to figure out how to show the Album Actions Drop-Down.
See the 2 photos below for an example (Please excuse my lack of photoshop ;) )
How can I make it so that guests are able to get the Album Action Drop-Down?
I have spent hours changing around the theme settings to add the drop down but all I am able to seem to be able to add is the ADD ALBUM TO CART and even that is not in a drop down
Normally, gallery decides when to show the drop-down menu. If you want drop-down menus always, you need edit line 34 in file /modules/core/templates/blocks/ItemLinks.tpl.
I created the new "local" folder and copied the theme.tpl into that folder. Do you know why it's not grabbing from the "local" folder?
I've also tried to do change the original theme.tpl and that did not work either.
I also tried to make changes to ads.tpl, but my google ads do not show up.
I have cleared my cache and that did not help.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

As all the other I just need to say how awesome your theme is.
I just have one question that I can't figure out. On the album page - I mean the page in the album where you can see all the photos in one album - I defined to have just a single column and 5 rows and I want the date and name of the photo on the right side of the photo and not underneath it. I guess I need to fix the album.tpl but by scripting knowledge is just to poor to solve the problem.
Any ideas?
thanks a lot.

yow, I don't have any idea what is the problem. Sorry! It could be a better idea to post this problem to "3rd Party Modules and Themes Support". If I find something, I will post the solution.

spooniverse, you can download the changed file from the link below. It is just a quick fix, you can compare what I have changed and improve it.
well m8, i was sure it was 2 but you must be correct. I downloaded blackjack carbon theme and it's there fine .. thanks
whilst i'm on.....
How does the image size work. ?
In matrix i had thumbnail size, then 480x480, 800x800 and original size. Obviously thumbnail is there then 480x480 how do i get to see the larger image and the original image sizes.
cheers
and a request if i may .. add in a random image thumbnail on the left below any text instead of in the options panel ? just a thought.
I prefered to have it so you could change the size yourself, and its an easy fix. Just add {g->block type="core.PhotoSizes" class="giInfo"} into the photo.tpl on line 116. You can find the photo.tpl in the themes directory.
EDIT: First you should create a folder named "local" in the template folder and then copy the photo.tpl into the "local" folder then you can edit and save the photo.tpl
I am new to Gallery 2 and recently had 2.1.1 deployed with carbon theme 1.1.1-blackjack, everything seems working fine, except when I click on the photo in order to view the orgnial size, I got the following message
Warning: requireonce(/home/t0055550/domains/t0055550.trywss.net/public_html/G2/modules/core/classes/helpers/../../../../modules/exif/Callbacks.inc): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/t0055550/domains/t0055550.trywss.net/public_html/G2/modules/core/classes/GalleryCoreApi.class on line 2827

I have no ideas of what to do, can you help?
Lots of thanks

Hi mincel,
I have just completed a fresh install of Gallery 2.1.1 and am receiving an error I see other people have posted about:
Quote:
Gallery2 theme from mincel.com
Incompatible theme!
Core API Required: 6.5 (available: 7.3)
Theme API Required: 2.1 (available: 2.3)
ImageFrame v1.0.3 is installed and activated, and I cannot find any other cause, assuming the Carbon version currently available is still compatable.
Could I ask a little advice/help? Many thanks, Ash.

EDIT: IGNORE. I see Carbon Theme (Blackjack) v1.1.1 (Gallery 2.1) is the appropriate theme file. - it really does help to read an entire thread through, doesn't it;)
This theme is truly lovely. Thank you for your efforts

Mincel,
Great theme. I have a problem that no one else seems to be having (www.thetranfamily.org/photogallery): I can't see the navigation buttons above the pictures. I know they exist because I can randomly click above the pictures and the picture will change. Under the admin section, all the options for the navigations buttons are selected.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you download the minimal install package of G2, make sure that you download the exif module, or you will get this error. You can download the module right from the gallery website. Great theme, keep up the good work.

I really like that theme. The only thing I'm missing right now is the font type used for the site name on the top. Is this a special one or can someone tell me which one it is and if it is allowed to use it.

mincel,
Carbon is an absolutely fantastic theme.. I am new to Gallery and was looking for a theme to use on our website when I found Carbon..
I have been trying to implement Lightbox JS 2.02 into a clone of the Carbon theme for the last two days with no luck.. I have read every post I could find and looked at Lokesh Dhakar's site as well and either I am total thick or I have missed something.. This seems to be a popular subject with more than a few people indicating that they had gotten it to work I would appreciate any help that anyone could provide it explaining the changes that I need to make to Carbon to make it work... Like I said I have Lightbox 2.02 & am using Carbon(BlackJack) and have Gallery Ver. 2.1.1...

You can find the font in the 3rd page of this forum.

In the 2nd of the forum eosguy explains how he did it.
mincel,
I followed the directions that eosguy posted on Page 2 of the forum and if I display my page and look at the source I see the following block as I should:
In your themes/carbon/templates/navigator.tpl - look for:
<a href="{$smarty.capture.url}" target="_blank"
onclick="popImage(this.href, '{$theme.item.title}'); return false;"
title="Full Size">
Quote:
and replace with:
<a href="{$smarty.capture.url}" rel="lightbox">
however I do not see the rel="lightbox" in any of my image links when I look at the source so it appears that its not getting picked up.. Any ideas... Or is there something else I need to do ??

okay, I got lightbox to work, but it only when you click to see the larger image. What part of the code would i need to edit for the lightbox to load the "reduced" size image. What I mean is you go to the album page where you see see the thumbnail. Then you click on the thumbnail (this is where I want the lightbox to load) rather than having it load on the fullsize part.

What you are trying is not possible with carbon without modifying. You need to modify album.tpl to show resized images in lightbox instead of photo page or you can put and extra icon below the thumbs.
mincel,
First I just want to say thanks for the help...
I cleared the template cache but no luck... here is an example of a link to an image from viewing the source of an album page when I look at it in Netscape:
I have Permalinks installed could that be causing me a problem ??

I think this is a link from an album page. The changes you made for lightbox is displayed in photo pages. You have just replaced carbon's full size image view with lightbox. If you want something like what SharpDoggy wants, you need to modify album.tpl file.
I see.. I did a bit more work based on you last post... You were right that was a link from an album page.. Like I said I am new to Gallery and I missed the concept of how the Photo Page vs Album Page affected Lightbox... It does work from the Photo Page.. You were also right that what I was really looking to do was the same thing SharpDoggy wants to do and use Lightbox to bring up a Photo directly from the Thumbnail on the album page. I am not sure what to change but I will take a look at the album.tpl file and see what I can do..
If anyone has any hints on where to start with modifying the album.tpl file for Lightbox I would be interested in trying them... Thanks
---------
--> Ok, At this point I have spent about 6 hours trying to get Lightbox working so it would handle displaying the resized images when clicking on a thumbnail on an album page by changing the album.tpl file as mincel suggested.. I have come to the conclusion that I am truly lost at this point.. So unless anybody has any ideas I will probably just give up on using Lightbox for now unfortunately since it would really make my Gallery of images much more useful...
Also while trying to get this to work I think I came up with another problem I would have to solve in that I have an intial album page that allows users to select sub-albums to view such as 2003 Season or 2004 Season, etc.. So somehow I would need to make sure it would only work with the sub-albums and not my main album page...

Now that I have a bit of time again I want to take another shot at implementing Lightbox so that it will handle displaying the resized images when clicking on a thumbnail on an album page. I know based on the previous post by mincel that I need to change the album.tpl file.. I am going to see what I can do but I would welcome any pointers as to what to change if someone has some ideas..

Astor, please look at the message posted at 2006-05-21 19:31 on this page.
On the Carbon Theme settings, I can set what resized limits are. But whatever I put in there, I always get only the same photo size in
the albums. With the PGTheme I used to have a drop down box on the side that let users pick their supported resolutions. Is there a
way to have variable sized images display with Carbon?

killer theme. One usability item I feel is missing. Once on a photo page their needs to be a icon to return to thumbnail view like your 1.1 carbon theme. is their a way to add that icon? Any help appreciated!

I finally have Lightbox working from the album page. The way I have it setup is that I have a main page that has images that link to various albums. The mainpage uses the Carbon Theme. Once on an individual album page if you click on a thumbnail the Image will be displayed using lightbox..
This is implmented via a combination of methods that I have gathered from these forums. Since there have been a lot of posts about how to implement this I thought I would post the complete sequence I used:
First I created a directory called lightbox in the Gallery2 directory. I placed the following files in the lightbox directory:
I then created css and images directories in the lightbox directory and placed the lightbox.css file into the css directory and the images in the images directory.
I then cloned the Carbon Theme as CarbonLight and made the following updates. The only other thing that you would need to do is set all of the apporpriate directory paths correct for your directory structure.
theme.css changes:
Locate the following entry inn the theme.tpl file:
{* Include this theme's style sheet *}
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{g->theme url="theme.css"}"/>
<script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href='themes/carbonlight/theme.js'}"></script>
Add the following entry for Lightbox and associated javascript and CSS
** Note ** The first entry places a link to view the Photo Page for the image being displayed by Lightbox The second entry removes the link to the Photo Page.
navigator.tpl chnages:
Locate the following entry inn the navigator.tpl file:
Does anyone know of a way to add an icon to send you back to the thumbnail view of the album? Any help appreciated.

Hi Mincel,
I've recently installed the Carbon Theme. It's Great. I've been doing some minor editing, but I can't find how to change or add the footer images. Just to make sure I'm explaining it right...These are the small boxes at the bottom with the Gallery link and your box with your link. I can the image itself but how do I edit the url it points to, or just get rid of it?

Sorry for my late reply! Carbon only shows the active re-sized image. If you want that feature you need to add the fallowing code into photo.tpl. Since big sized images corrupt the page layout, I don't recommend it.
Schneide, THANKS FOR SHARING THE INFORMATION! I am sure this will help many people.

mountainography, to add a new button you should create a css button in theme.css and change the photo.tpl to but the button. You can use the fallowing code to go back to the thumbnail view.

Pique, they are in theme.tpl at the bottom of the file.
Is there a way to make the Carbon Theme not show any albums until the users login? I'm using Gallery 2.1.1 Please advise. BTW Mincel your Carbon Theme is the best one so far. Hopefully what I am asking for can be done.
Thank You

Yes, there is a way. You should change your group permissions, for "everybody" and "registered users".
I have attached a modified Lightbox.txt file below that provides a Slideshow in Lightbox.. Basically the way it functions is that once the user clicks on a picture that opens in a Lightbox if they press the 's' key Lightbox will show the remaining pictures in the album as a Lightbox Slideshow and the close the Lightbox Window after the Last Image is shown.. The duration each image is displayed may be set via a Variable.. All my changes are commented so they are easy to find and modify if anyone owuld like the Slideshow ability but would like to make it operate a bit differently than I have... All you need to do to use it is rename it to Lightbox.js...
Update: I removed the file because I found a bug with the code that made sure the full image was available before setting the display time.. I will repost the file as soon as I fix it...

Hmm, we are using a multi user setup so that's probably why I can't find the main file. Is there a way I could put a home page link onto my carbon theme without affecting other users...

Thanks.

Go to Site Admin > Themes and Carbon tab, here you should fill "Extra link for top navigation bar" and "URL for the extra link". But I'm not sure if this changes affect the other user or not.

Thanks for this nice compliment! For the width you need to edit theme.tpl file. Before changing you should see the notification about modules that require full screen.
Schneide, could you post a link to your website so we could see your Lightbox integration "in action". Thanks.
Also, I am trying to integrate Gallery 2.1.1 with the latest Carbon theme in Joomla. The slidebar is always visible, even in the "closed" state - it slides left, but part of it you can still see:
Thanks Mincel. I was able to change the width using your suggestion, this worked in stand-a-lone but when it was embeded, it didn't affect the width. I got around this by adding the following to the carbon style sheet:-

Any ideas?

I prefered to have it so you could change the size yourself, and its an easy fix. Just add {g->block type="core.PhotoSizes" class="giInfo"} into the photo.tpl on line 116. You can find the photo.tpl in the themes directory.
EDIT: First you should create a folder named "local" in the template folder and then copy the photo.tpl into the "local" folder then you can edit and save the photo.tpl
.... <div class="gbBlock"> {g->block type="core.ItemInfo" item=$theme.item showDate=true showOwner=true class="giInfo"} {g->block type="core.PhotoSizes" class="giInfo"} </div> <div class="gbBlock"> ..../Ant

I like the carbon theme that you design.

Hi mincel,
I have just completed a fresh install of Gallery 2.1.1 and am receiving an error I see other people have posted about:

Thanks.

I found the solution to my problem of:

I also did the following step from Page 2:
however I do not see the rel="lightbox" in any of my image links when I look at the source so it appears that its not getting picked up..

Schneide, can you try to delete template cache?

Also, where can I edit the size of the microthumbnails?

Now that I have a bit of time again I want to take another shot at implementing Lightbox so that it will handle displaying the resized images when clicking on a thumbnail on an album page. I know based on the previous post by mincel that I need to change the album.tpl file.. I am going to see what I can do but I would welcome any pointers as to what to change if someone has some ideas..

I placed the following files in the lightbox directory:
effects.js
lightbox.js
prototype.js
scriptaculous.js
I then created css and images directories in the lightbox directory and placed the lightbox.css file into the css directory and the images in the images directory.
I then cloned the Carbon Theme as CarbonLight and made the following updates. The only other thing that you would need to do is set all of the apporpriate directory paths correct for your directory structure.
theme.css changes:
Locate the following entry inn the theme.tpl file:
{* Include this theme's style sheet *} <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{g->theme url="theme.css"}"/> <script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href='themes/carbonlight/theme.js'}"></script>Add the following entry for Lightbox and associated javascript and CSS
{* Add Lightbox javascript and CSS *} <script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href="lightbox/prototype.js"}"></script> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{g->url href="lightbox/css/lightbox.css"}"/> <script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href="lightbox/lightbox.js"}"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href="lightbox/scriptaculous.js?load=effects"}"></script>The Entry should now look like this:
{* Add Lightbox javascript and CSS *} <script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href="lightbox/prototype.js"}"></script> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{g->url href="lightbox/css/lightbox.css"}"/> <script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href="lightbox/lightbox.js"}"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href="lightbox/scriptaculous.js?load=effects"}"></script> {* Include this theme's style sheet *} <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{g->theme url="theme.css"}"/> <script type="text/javascript" src="{g->url href='themes/carbonlight/theme.js'}"></script>album.tpl changes:
Locate the following entry in the album.tpl file:
125 {if isset($theme.params.$frameType) && isset($child.thumbnail)} 126 {g->container type="imageframe.ImageFrame" frame=$theme.params.$frameType 127 width=$child.thumbnail.width height=$child.thumbnail.height} 128 <a href="{g->url arg1="view=core.ShowItem" arg2="itemId=`$child.id`"}">Replace line 128 (this may very slightly with your file but it should be around 128) with one of the following entries:
128 <a href="{g->url arg1="view=core.DownloadItem" arg2="itemId=`$child.id`"}" title='<h4>{$child.title|markup}</h4><br><a href="{g->url arg1="view=core.ShowItem" arg2="itemId=`$child.id`"}">View Photo Page</a>' rel="lightbox[photos]"> 128 <a href="{g->url arg1="view=core.DownloadItem" arg2="itemId=`$child.id`"}" title='<h4>{$child.title|markup}</h4><br>' rel="lightbox[photos]">** Note **
The first entry places a link to view the Photo Page for the image being displayed by Lightbox The second entry removes the link to the Photo Page.
navigator.tpl chnages:
Locate the following entry inn the navigator.tpl file:
<a href="{$smarty.capture.url}" target="_blank" onclick="popImage(this.href, '{$theme.item.title}'); return false;" title="Full Size">Change the entry to the following:
<a href="{$smarty.capture.url}" rel="lightbox"></a></div>Posts: 5

Hi Mincel,
I've recently installed the Carbon Theme.

{g->block type="core.ItemInfo" item=$theme.item showDate=true showOwner=true class="giInfo"} {g->block type="core.PhotoSizes" class="giInfo"}http://www.mincel.com/carbon

Schneide, THANKS FOR SHARING THE INFORMATION! I am sure this will help many people.
mountainography, to add a new button you should create a css button in theme.css and change the photo.tpl to but the button. You can use the fallowing code to go back to the thumbnail view.
<a href="{g->url arg1="view=core.ShowItem" arg2="itemId=`$theme.parents[1].id`" arg3="highlightId=`$theme.item.id`"}"> </a>http://www.mincel.com/carbon

Hi mincel,
Love the theme! I just had a quick question- probably really obvious but Ive only been using gallery a couple of days..
How did you edit the links on the left to add a link to your home page, and change the one on the left also? I can't seem to find where it is
Any help much appreciated

Hmm, we are using a multi user setup so that's probably why I can't find the main file. Is there a way I could put a home page link onto my carbon theme without affecting other users...
Thanks again

Mincel, this has to be "the theme" for Gallery, very well done, thanks! I'm trying to integrate it into a Joomla site that I have and need to control the width of the overall theme. How would I do that?
Thanks.
Posts: 134

How could I fix it?

Thanks Mincel. I was able to change the width using your suggestion, this worked in stand-a-lone but when it was embeded, it didn't affect the width. I got around this by adding the following to the carbon style sheet:-
#gallery {
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 62.5%;
color: #999;
background-color: #333;
width: 905px;
}
Thanks again for your help and for a wonderful theme!
