Same problem here in Win/IE environment. When I open the site in Mac/Firefox or Safari, the shadow looks ok.

IE has problems with PNG and can't handle alpha channel transparency. You can use Carbon frame for shadows. Carbon frame uses GIF instead of PNG. So, it works well in IE and Firefox.

mincel!

Hats for this nice theme, I would say best available for gallery 2.

I have a request though, could you plesae make available the logo psd file (or that font). I would like to use it, but can't edit the logo.gif to change it to my site name.

Again, thanks for your efforts and contributions

Mincel,
When you say "Carbon frame" are you referring to the version for G2? Like I should take some files from that theme and replace the Blackjack Shadow PNG files?

I can not get the EXIF popup to work on my site. Using the same browser, the EXIF popup window on your site works fine. Everything else seems to work fine. Any ideas which would prevent the EXIF window from appearing?

sruckh, I found that it is bug in Carbon theme. If ImageFrame module is not installed or a frame is not selected gallery doesn't produce the image id. Until the weekend I will release a new version.

I was just checking out your gallery and I have a question, either for you or mincel. BTW I like your gallery.

How do you add the site navagation on the left site of you gallery. Not the one at the top, but the one you can click the "+" to open and close. I'm sure it's something simple I am just missing, anyway thanks in advance for the help.

BTW Mincel, I got my earlier problem fixed. Not sure what was wrong, but I just re-upgraded my gallery from my host, which is DreamHost, deleted the old carbon theme, installed the new and everything works fine now.

Just started my own (and first ever) website 9 weeks ago and had begun making my own "manual album" but have now stumbled across Gallery2 and installed it and your excellent Carbon theme. I would quite like to change the overall background to #000000, inset background to #333333 and all text to #999999. How do I do this with that theme so that it fits in with my site colours (the rollovers are fine in white). Also on the navigation buttons (login, register, site admin, etc) how to I add a "Home" link back to my main website page (address below).

I am no programmer and it has taken me three days with a very steep learning curve just to install and set-up to where I am now so please bear that in mind if the response involves complex alterations.

Would really appreciate any help you can give.

Mincel did everything. My theme was not changed, so your question should be directed at the author of the wonderful theme!!!

You need to install "Album Select" module and add "Album quick links" to "Blocks to show on album pages (below description)"

Hi, thanks for the great theme! I just installed it and it works fine in G2 per se but I'm having problems with Wordpress integration.
On the Wordpress gallery page, when the page loads, the sidebar 1/covers the whole width, 2/is blank 3/can't be slided out. Both in IE and Firefox.

There must be some javascript or css conflict with the Wordpress theme I'm using on this install. It's called "Hemingway" and should go along well with your theme if I can get it to work... :)

Any idea of where I could start to fix it? Any piece of code I could post here that could give you a hint (like browser source code)?
Unfortunately, I can't really post a url here as this is a private site. :(

TIA.

Is it the theme that is preventing anonymous users from being able type in their names when posting comments? Right now, it defaults to "Guest", without the option to change.

Thanks.

When your logged in to your site as admin, click on the sidebar, then click on "Edit Album", then under description add the text you'd like to show your visitors/users. Don't forget to save your changes when your finished, hope this helped.

Then be a little more specific with your questions, and state who your question is being addressed to next time. That way you won't waste anyones time, in the future. The comments on his front page are from visitors, they have left him comments. You need to have the comments module activated, and permissions set to allow for comments.

ejackson, bad day? You need to relax. OldVolks question was specific. How do you get "comments" on the front page? OldVolks question was direct and to the point.

Mincel, I apparently activated the correct module because after I started editing the colors from your theme the EXIF pop up started working. If allowing anonymous users to post their name with their comments is theme related I would appreciate you help pointing me in the correct direction where I can make the change.

Thanks for the great theme!

sruckh, This is not theme related, for anonymous users there is no text field to post their names. It would also be great for me if there are name and email fields.

This is a great theme.
I have installed it on my website, and will put my typical Flash header with links in it. I am wondering if the theme can be adjusted to have a fixed width of 800 pixels, centered, and have typical footer, non flash, that apperas on all pages.

Hello-- I'd love to install this wonderful looking theme, but I'm running into a few problems. I'm running 2.1 blackjack on a Dreamhost site that was just set up today. All other aspects of Gallery are working properly, but I am running into an issue trying to install Carbon. I install the module, then upload the carbon folder into my Themes directory. Then I get this when trying to go into the Themes manager to install it:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/.dita/bitjockey/gallery.rcrholdings.com/themes/carbon/theme.inc on line 483

Line 483 in that file is actually a blank line. Line 485 is the first line after 482 that has a command that isn't commented out...

return array(null, 'theme.tpl');

Is that the problem?

I'm new to this stuff, thank you for any help!

From the sidebar select "Edit Permissions" and give the permissions "Add comments" and "View comments" to Everyone.

Go to Site Admin -> Theme -> Carbon tab and add "Image Block" to "Blocks to show on album pages (below description)".

danhogman, you should to edit album.tpl, photo.tpl and theme.tpl files for the width of 800px and theme.tpl for footer and header. You may need to edit theme.css as well.

Hi Yah Mincel,

Love the theme, excellent work. Just a quick question I'm thinking of using the theme and wondered if there is anyway that you can make it a fixed width theme i.e say 700px wide and centred on the screen ?

Is that a major to do and where can one start looking to do such a thing. I did have a wee play with the theme.tpl, got the logo centred and the album centred but the navigation stayed full width and when I inserted the code into a table then I kept getting error etc etc.

Could this be added to the theme admin - Make Fixed Width

Many thanks in advance

Hi Yah Mincel,

Manged to get a custom header & footer into the theme along with centering the album & photo sections. The only problem I have is with the breadcrumbs and navigation code...no matter what I try to do it won't resize or if I add center tags or add the code to a table I keep getting errors stating invalid tages or smarty error.

http://magteammodelmanagement.com/model/

is with the navbar and breadcrumb code removed.
But with the above included the page looks like this...

Also noticed that even with resizing the photo, album when logged into admin it expands to full screen view...not a biggie that but any pointers as to how I can get the breadcrumb and navbar siisue resolved would be great.

Thanks in advance

Your gallery looks great. I tried to do the same thing, I was able to set width to 800px, but it would not center. Would you mind sharing the TPL files? Thanks.

Very nice job with the theme mincel. By far it is the best I've seen.

I am having a same problem as dellop and I am having trouble understanding your solution. Basically, I have the ImageFrame module installed and I then installed and activated your module, but I don't see any Carbon album frame choice in the drop down, and choosing 'shadow' gives me the white outline in IE as people said.

How can I get my shadows to look like yours?

prodigy467, is the carbon frame in <gallery_home>/modules/imageframe/frames/. If so you should normally see the carbon in the drop down.

Hi,

I didn't install myself gallery2 and I used it for 2 days. So don't shoot me. I'm still in the learning process.

And thank you very much to Mincel for sharing with other people his nice work.

I would like to add a menu, at least for the first page of the gallery. It could be an horizontal or vertical drop down menu or an horizontal menu with one level horizontal submenu. I own various style. These menus are mainly CSS/HTML 4.01 based.

The location could be right beside the sidebar/slide show, above the white line. (or other place if it's more easy)

In which file and location could I insert the menu system?

(Re gallery 2 latest version, carbon, windows XP, dreamwaver 8)

any help appreciated and thank you very much in advance for your answers

best regards

Hi theclown,

If you would like to add the menu to right beside the sidebar/slide show you should change album.tpl and photo.tpl files. At the top of the files you can easy see where to change the template.

In my opinion this place is the most suitable place for an extra menu.

Hello Mincel,

It's no so obvious for me to place a menu for me because I don't know anything about php.

I can use this way (inline HTML):

To export the menu to an existing page, paste the code below within the body of the source HTML for the document. The menu will position itself as a block level element within the flow of your page (similar to a table or div element). IMPORTANT** If using a visual HTML editor, first switch to code view before pasting.

or this way (js script file):

Paste section #2 below to a new text file, then save your file with a '.js' extension.
Paste section #1 below to your documents source HTML (switch to code view or use a plain text editor). The script reference must be pasted within the body of the document, the menu will position itself at the point of insertion within the flow of the page (similar to a table or div element). Finally replace the file name in the script reference to correctly point to the .js file your created.

Thank you in advance to give me the perfect location and way to place the code.

best regards

Hello, Carbon is a great theme. It looks really great. I'd have to give it the highest compliment which is to say that it is tasteful. I am a noob so I am wondering how to make my thumbnails appear smaller? I like them square, it's just that I'd like them smaller and closer together and more on a page.
Thanks, great work.

Maybe the folder name and the theme name must be the same. And also try deleting template cache.

For the smaller thumbnails go to Edit Album > Album tab, you will see the options.
For more thumbnails go to Site Admin > Themes > Carbon tab and change first two parameters.
For square thumbnails you have to activate "Square Thumbnails" module and rebuild you thumbnails.

Hey thanks big guy.
That worked great.
I have another noob question. Under each thumbnail it says date and views. I can't get these to turn off. I thought I turned them off in the controls but they are still there.
Here is my site so far.
elliotjackson.net

and yes I have the same last name and first initial as that other person that was posting but I am a different person. That is an odd coincidence though.

Thanks for the great theme!

Hi jacksondont,

This time you have to edit album.tpl to get rid of date and views. In the file at line 174 you will see which code to change.

Thanks for a wonderful theme Mincel.
Is there a way to download the icon pack that you used?
I have looked at
http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:UserContributions#Themes
and don't see it.
Do I just download the PG theme and then pull the icons out of it and then upload them into the carbon theme somewhere? (where would that be?)

(I have some icons but not all)

thanks again,

`kaya

::I HAVE FIXED THIS:::
I am having some problems, don't really know if they are theme related or just Gallery 2.1.1 .

If I go to the main site:
http://www.mainsite.com/silkprints/gallery/main.php

I have un-carbon generic gallery2.

If I go to login on that page,

I have really long url on main php for :
http://www.mainsite.com/silkprints/gallery/main.php?&g2_fromNavId=x732b601c&g2_navId=xb45e39dc&g2_GALLERYSID=20e0420547c7a92b4d49f91072d52e98

but Carbon is loaded and working fine there and on into the gallery,
and the links when login in as admin look fine except for
the /v/
http://www.mainsite.com/silkprints/gallery/v/Animal_Life/

I want to get rid of the /v/
How?
I want short url on someone coming to
http://www.mainsite.com/silkprints/gallery/main.php with carbon running there..
I don't understand what is happening that it is working every where when logged in but not to the public?

I fear that Gallery 2.1.1 has something wrong and don't want to continue loading images / making albums until these problems are resolved.

I really need some help.
I am on a timeline that is getting quite short to get this up and running.
Please help me!

thanks
