I have gone through all the posts and though I've seen mention of this, I've not seen a solution posted.
I am using Gallery 2.1.2 embedded in Joomla. When you load Gallery 2, the sidebar is not fully moved to the left - you still see a small section of the far right side of it. I tried going into theme.js and altering rightost/leftmost values - which help once you click the sidebar button - but if you go to a new page, the remnant returns.
I think Mikblik (sp?) got it figured out for his site (http://www.beastsandbotanicals.com/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=7) but for some reason I still can't figure out what parameters need to change - and in what file - in order for the sidebar to start at the left of the screen and NOT at the left edge of the Joomla template.

Just to say that I love the theme too! I would have loved to use the grey colour too, but I need to integrate it into a purple web site and it doesn't fit. Like the user above I need to have it with a possible lighter/white background. On the description it says the theme is compatible with colourpack, but when I try to set it I do not see any options to change colours. Am I using some wrong version or doing something else wrong?

tsvet, you will need to intall ColorPacks from modules/plugins and then you will find the option to change the colour scheme in the theme pages. To set site wide colour changes go to Site Admin, Themes then click the Carbon tab, scroll down.

Also, once you have chosen a color pack, say bluebottle, you can change the color site wide by changing the color.css file for that color. They are located in modules/colorpack/packs/bluebottle/color.css as an example. Make a backup first of the css file just in case!

Questions: How do you remove the date and size information on the left side of the main album page? For example, "Date:" and "Size: 5 items..." Also, how do I include an email link within a sub album? Thanks to anyone who replies.

Hi - First and foremost - this is a great theme. (And yes, I'm slightly embarrassed that I want to change it )
However, I'd like to create a little more display space on just the photo page by:
1. removing the logo on just the photo page
2. moving the album name (breadcrumbs) down onto the level of the slide show control
3. removing the "Site Admin << Your Account << Logout << Slide Bar" controls
I've read through the FAQ and the forum - but I just can't seem to make this happen without other bad things also happening.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

This became an offical theme a while ago so it's maintained by Gallery2 now. So the G2 download section will contain the latest version.
can anyone please tell me how to change the color of the input text? the light grey is difficult to read.

I have a question for you. I use your theme in my photo gallery.
I have 2 domains, in the first are installed the gallery2 and the second is redirected to the first, example: www.raulurzua.com ---> the g2 www.example.com ---> redirected to www.raulurzua.com
The redirect work's, but when i edit the template (theme.tpl) for change the image logo with the different picture for the different domain... the theme and the gallery dont work.
I use this code:
i believe that the dhtml/javascript in this theme is causing a duplicate content issue in the google search engine... it has the potential to ruin your search engine rankings.
he problem is that a random line of navication tree is written in italics (or marked as active) and it doesn't correspond with the title of the page that is really loaded. It is marked correctly while loading, but when the page fully loaded a random line is written in italics again.

Since the latest code change in Gallery 2.2.3, I don't know how to modify the Carbon theme to display albums so that they would be displayed in the following manner:
- if an album contains sub-albums, those sub-albums would be displayed with album titles to the right of the sub-album:

I've one question can Carbon Theme will come with "RSS" & "Resized Photos" function on next version?
Now I do a another way to do the RSS in "Carbon" theme, But I'm sure this a stupid way...
- Change to another theme first (Like "Matrix" theme) Then use this theme to create the RSS and config the RSS setting. After successful then change it back to "Carbon" theme...
But I've no way to do the "Resized Photos"...

i was tired of always have to open the menu for certain operations so made this little addition =)
it's not very pretty coded but it works kinda...
hoping someone can improve my rough coding and that it maby can become a regular part of the theme so more people can enjoy it :D
I too really like the carbon theme. It is big and dark which is perfict for astro photography.
I have one issue with it, that being the side bar behavior.
When I click to "show side bar", it will slide in and then it slides back out almost immediately.
How do I get the side bar to slide in and stay in for longer than 1 second?
Also, I have made a change that may be of interest to some. I added a "size" scroll box from Matrix that allows more than one size to be viewed. The reason is that my originals are 1500x1000 which is quite large for some, and my small resize is 600x400 for previewing which is way too small for the type of photography I do, so it was necessary two have more than two sizes available.
Hello, firstly I am very grateful about both Gallery2 and the Carbon theme which I find very exciting. I would like to ask however, how could I best have it in white, i.e. the Carbon theme but in white. What I mean is, I would like to retain all the layout and functioning of the Carbon Theme, but to have it all in white. I am a rookie at this, and my designer does not seem to understand what I mean, so I would like confirmation from the experts first.

I have been looking for some assistance with the Carbon Theme for Gallery 2. My site is www.jlop.net. I cannot access more than one page of albums or pictures. If I have an album with more than one page and I hit the #2 or the >>> It just takes me back to the very first main page of the website. I have tried to re-install the theme and still no luck. However if I use some other themes besides carbon they work fine. Can someone offer some assistance please?

I installed Gallery 2.2.4 with the carbon theme which I find absolutely great! The problem I have is that when I change the theme features in the site admin section, for example I want to add comments on the blocks to show on photo pages, these new features do not execute, meaning they do not show on the theme. I tried to delete the theme cache but it did not help. However, if I delete an album and recreate it, then the new features appear. Can some one explain me what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Uninstall and reinstall the theme via downloadable plugins. Or you mught just need to upgrate it.

As I can tell it seems that the owners of that gallery made themselves that 'shadow frame'. It is not actually a frame form G2.
But you can create your own.

Does anyone know why when using the carbon them at the Gallery2 Theme Demo Site (http://themes.gallery2.hu/) I can use the right and left arrow keys to move to the next and previous album pages and photos, but these keys don't seem to work in other carbon galleries? It looks like there is code in carbon's theme.js (the document.onkeydown function) to do this, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I would love to be able to use the arrow keys to navigate around my galleries. Any hints regarding how to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

I just can't get my Carbon working as it should. It works alright but may be am little confused with the permissions I think .
I have Gallery 2.3 RC1 with Carbon v1.2.3 installed from the Gallery site. It's installed and working fine.
I can not get it the way mincel has on his site. For examle I can not get the mini icons displayed on the top left hand corner 'Add comments' etc and I ca not get the extra icons displayed under and over the large images and I can not get the comments for the individual images.
So all I need some help in configuration please. ( on a side note - It would have been a great feature if there was a option of saving site configuration on a single file where it could be shared provided that all had the same theme as default settings. )
I want to have -
I have currently 2 thumbnail of albums. 1 Demo and 1 x Client. Demo everyone can view and the client with password
Registered Users (these will be clients) -
Permissions Allowed: Add to Cart/Checkout
Download images after the PayPal purchase
Comments (All) - in single images
Rate(All) - single images
View (small/standard images)
Add to Favs.
Permissions NOT Allowed: Edit/Delete accounts.

Users with Passwords only - (not sure if these are called 'Guests') These users will view Client albums with their passwords.

My diffuculty is to get those icons displayed. I can see them as admin. As an experiment I even made a user Permission ALL and still could not see them,
Yes I did clear temp files from admin. (is there a way to disable this function while configuring the theme?)

1) Option to show or hide the date
Some pages the user may not want their album dated, like the first page of the album

2) Group by year
Allow albums to be grouped by year, e.g:
http://monashphotos.com/v/users/alis3/
3) Group by day
Allow photos to be grouped by the day they were taken:

he problem is that a random line of navication tree is written in italics (or marked as active) and it doesn't correspond with the title of the page that is really loaded. It is marked correctly while loading, but when the page fully loaded a random line is written in italics again.

Since the latest code change in Gallery 2.2.3, I don't know how to modify the Carbon theme to display albums so that they would be displayed in the following manner:
- if an album contains sub-albums, those sub-albums would be displayed with album titles to the right of the sub-album:
[sub-album thumbnail] title
[sub-album thumbnail] title
- if an album contains only photos, those photos would have photo titles below the photos:
[photo thumbnail]
title
[photo thumbnail]
title
I believe this would help my visitors differentiate between album and photo pages. If anyone is skilled in modifying the latest Carbon theme, I would very much appreciate your help.

I've one question can Carbon Theme will come with "RSS" & "Resized Photos" function on next version?
Now I do a another way to do the RSS in "Carbon" theme, But I'm sure this a stupid way...
- Change to another theme first (Like "Matrix" theme) Then use this theme to create the RSS and config the RSS setting. After successful then change it back to "Carbon" theme...
But I've no way to do the "Resized Photos"...

Possible contract to change Carbon navigation?
I am looking for someone who could put the ajxian photo and album navigation into the carbon theme.
I really like to ajaxian separation of albums and photos - and how photos are a slide show view.
I really like the look, layout, options, etc of the Carbon theme.

Mincel... This is truly a great theme and it embeds well into wordpress using WPG2. I have a couple of things I was hoping to try if someone might know how.
1) I would like to add some text (with a gallery2 search) above the albums on the main page. Something similar to http://ballardmedia.com/cmv/main.php, but without the sidebar on the left. My site (http://www.jacobmaentz.com/home/gallery) is embedded into wordpress, so hopefully any changes I make will not affect that. Does anyone know if this is possible to do with modifying the Carbon theme? I would rather not switch to another theme because this one embeds so well into my site. Any thoughts?
2) I was also wondering if there is a plug-in out there that lets you add images from gallery2 as wallpaper or a screen saver?

hi first of all thx for a wonderful theme =)
i was tired of always have to open the menu for certain operations so made this little addition =)
it's not very pretty coded but it works kinda...
hoping someone can improve my rough coding and that it maby can become a regular part of the theme so more people can enjoy it :D

I too really like the carbon theme. It is big and dark which is perfict for astro photography.
I have one issue with it, that being the side bar behavior.
When I click to "show side bar", it will slide in and then it slides back out almost immediately.
How do I get the side bar to slide in and stay in for longer than 1 second?
Also, I have made a change that may be of interest to some. I added a "size" scroll box from Matrix that allows more than one size to be viewed. The reason is that my originals are 1500x1000 which is quite large for some, and my small resize is 600x400 for previewing which is way too small for the type of photography I do, so it was necessary two have more than two sizes available.

Hello, firstly I am very grateful about both Gallery2 and the Carbon theme which I find very exciting. I would like to ask however, how could I best have it in white, i.e. the Carbon theme but in white. What I mean is, I would like to retain all the layout and functioning of the Carbon Theme, but to have it all in white. I am a rookie at this, and my designer does not seem to understand what I mean, so I would like confirmation from the experts first.

Hi, first of all: you made a great theme. But i have installed G2.2.4. and my pagination is not working anymore. I found another post saying it could be a problem with the version of theme. I have been looking for some assistance with the Carbon Theme for Gallery 2. My site is www.jlop.net. I cannot access more than one page of albums or pictures. If I have an album with more than one page and I hit the #2 or the >>> It just takes me back to the very first main page of the website. I have tried to re-install the theme and still no luck. However if I use some other themes besides carbon they work fine. Can someone offer some assistance please?

I installed Gallery 2.2.4 with the carbon theme which I find absolutely great! The problem I have is that when I change the theme features in the site admin section, for example I want to add comments on the blocks to show on photo pages, these new features do not execute, meaning they do not show on the theme. I tried to delete the theme cache but it did not help. However, if I delete an album and recreate it, then the new features appear. Can some one explain me what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

As I can tell it seems that the owners of that gallery made themselves that 'shadow frame'. It is not actually a frame form G2.
But you can create your own.

Does anyone know why when using the carbon them at the Gallery2 Theme Demo Site (http://themes.gallery2.hu/) I can use the right and left arrow keys to move to the next and previous album pages and photos, but these keys don't seem to work in other carbon galleries? It looks like there is code in carbon's theme.js (the document.onkeydown function) to do this, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I would love to be able to use the arrow keys to navigate around my galleries. Any hints regarding how to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

What version are you using? I would suggest uninstalling using the gallery User Interface and it deleting it from the file-system and using downloadable plugins to get it.

I just can't get my Carbon working as it should. It works alright but may be am little confused with the permissions I think .
I have Gallery 2.3 RC1 with Carbon v1.2.3 installed from the Gallery site. It's installed and working fine.
I can not get it the way mincel has on his site. For examle I can not get the mini icons displayed on the top left hand corner 'Add comments' etc and I ca not get the extra icons displayed under and over the large images and I can not get the comments for the individual images.
So all I need some help in configuration please. ( on a side note - It would have been a great feature if there was a option of saving site configuration on a single file where it could be shared provided that all had the same theme as default settings. )
I want to have -
I have currently 2 thumbnail of albums. 1 Demo and 1 x Client. Demo everyone can view and the client with password
Registered Users (these will be clients) -
Permissions Allowed: Add to Cart/Checkout
Download images after the PayPal purchase
Comments (All) - in single images

Permissions NOT Allowed: Edit/Delete accounts.
