Gallery 3 Spread The Word Contest
The feedback we've been getting about Gallery 3 is pretty great! Very few of you mention broken G3's except those of you with really funky configurations, users are helping other users in the forums thanks to how much simpler the code is, and everyone seems to love the new user interface.
That said, it's time to turn things up to 11. Here's your chance to win some sweet prizes and a few minutes of fame.
- Blog about Gallery 3 and
- Post a video about Gallery 3
- Write a song about sharing your photos on your website
- Get a tattoo of the Gallery logo
- Do anything, and let us know!
If you make us smile, laugh, or high-five one another on IRC, we'll mail you a free Gallery t-shirt (while supplies last).
If you do something really great, we'll even throw in your choice of a free iPod or some free web hosting, so get started!
Gallery 3 User Guide
Do you want to try out Gallery 3 but nervous that it might be too complicated to get started? Do you want some information on a specific topic, but don't have the time to ask in the forums? Gallery 3 has a great user guide:
Gallery 3 User GuideDocumentation site user "Hukoeth" has done a great job of piecing things together to make it easier for you to quickly get up to speed on installing, configuring, and using Gallery 3. Thanks Hukoeth!
If you'd like to contribute back to Gallery, but your budget is tight and you're not a programmer, contributions to our documentation are much appreciated and add a lot of value.
Gallery 3 - One Week In
We're sure glad that Gallery 3 has finally made it out the door, and it looks like you're pretty happy too! In the week since it's release, Gallery 3 has already been downloaded almost 15,000 times, and the Gallery 3.x feedback forum and Gallery 3 troubleshooting forums have been alive with activity. Theres been a little buzz around the internet, from tweets (We really like this one. Thanks liotier!) to news stories (like this one on h-online.com). Every mention is greatly appreciated! Have you blogged about Gallery 3 or seen it written up somewhere? Let us know!
Thanks for all your support, and here's what to expect in Gallery 3.1.
Gallery 3.0 is *almost* ready!
We have 3 tickets left, and they look like things for which we would probably not block the launch. WOOT!
Some highlights of the RC 2 cycle:
- nivekiam, suprsidr, floridave, Serge D, dmolavi and I have racked up a total of 1267 forum posts and comments in the last 30 days!
- We've closed 127 tickets so far since RC2
- There are 85 Gallery 3 modules listed!
- gallerymodules.com is now an easy way to download individual modules!
The product is looking great. I'm really excited to ship the final version! If you were ever planning on testing it, now is the time!
If you know of somebody who has time to make the Debian package, now is a great time for that too. Here's the package bug for that: Debian Bug #511715 - Gallery 3.
Looking forward to an awesome release!

Happy 10th Birthday Gallery!
Bharat registered Gallery as a project on SourceForge on June 18th, 2000 to share his small PHP photo program with the world. Now with over 20,000 code changes across 3 completely unique versions and almost 100,000 forum topics, Gallery is 10 years old and on countless web sites around the world. In addition to the huge Team of documented contributors over the years, thousands of people have helped make this possible. Thanks everyone for all of your comments, bug reports, patches, help, and feedback. We couldn't have done this without you!
Gallery 3 RC 2 is just around the corner and we can't wait to finish up the last few things and get it out the door to you.
