PC Magazine picks Gallery as one of "the best"
PC Magazine has published an article called "The Best Free Software", where they highlight what they think are the best free software packages available. Their list is based on the software that PC Magazine employees actually use and Gallery is very honored to be mentioned in the "Video & Graphics" section!
PC Magazine also highlights SourceForge as a one of the best resources for finding free software, and as we utilize their infrastructure for our own project management tasks we couldn't agree more.
While Gallery was mentioned as a software package, they didn't stop there. As a follow up to the actual recommendation, they even threw in an interview with Gallery founder Bharat Mediratta. Be sure to check it out here.
Website Upgrades
The Gallery website has been upgraded to Drupal 5.1 and MediaWiki 1.9.2, with supporting upgrades for PHP and MySQL too. In the process we have switched back to the Drupal trip_search module for searching. Site search is now available again, and we hope this will help alleviate performance issues. We have also contributed some work back to the associated Drupal projects: changes to trip_search to support searching comments, conversions to support Drupal 5.x for trip_search, privatemsg and bbcode_wysiwyg modules, plus a few other small bug fixes.
Please report any new site issues here.
Help us make Gallery meet your needs!
The Gallery Team is excited to announce the availability of a survey for you, our users, that will help us discover what you use and need in Gallery. We have worked together with openusability.org to design a survey that is easy for you to take and will help us improve Gallery and meet more of your needs. Please, spend 15 minutes of your time taking this survey!
Answer the questions based on your own experiences and don't try to think for others (especially not for your users!) Instead, please ask your users to fill out the survey as well. We would like to have feedback from as many different types of users as possible to ensure that we are meeting all of your needs. All data is confidential and will only be used to improve Gallery. This survey will only be available for a few weeks, so click below to get started!
Update: The survey was only open until Sunday, February 11th! Thanks to the over 600 of you that participated!
