Gallery v1.4-pl1 Bugfix

Only moments after releasing Gallery v1.4, we found a very small bug, introduced just before the release, which causes all image rotations to fail. We've released v1.4-pl1 to fix this issue.

If you've already downloaded v1.4, you should upgrade, either via a patchfile, or you can download the full 1.4-pl1 package from the Gallery Download Page.

Was this to do with rotate_image in util.php?<br />

My image rotating hasn't worked since 1.3.3. After I pulled down 1.4 last night I decided to find what was causing the problem, and narrowed it down to a piece of code in util.php that looked like this:<br />

$outFile = some_function($out);<br />
$srcFile = some_function($out);<br />
<br />
. . . I changed the second occurence of '$out' to '$src' and it works again now.<br />

Has this very small bug got an equally small fix? <br />

ie are there 1 or 2 files which I should FTP to my server - or do I have to re-install them all?

This bug fix is included in Debian package version 1.4-2 which was uploaded on Saturday, September 13, 2003 and is currently available in Debian unstable.

Why is this patch so ardous to apply? I don't have shell access, and I'd think all I'd have to do is just re-upload a handful of files - instead I have to re-download the entire thing, unzip it, and reupload the entire thing.

We've also provided an entirely new version: v1.4-pl1, which you can download, and upgrade in the usual manner, no patching necessary whatsoever. The patch is available to those who prefer patchfiles and have the means to apply it quickly (i.e. having shell access).<br />

The only changed files in this case are in fact Version.php and util.php (the ChangeLog file is also changed, but that's not used by the code). If you prefer, you only need to upload those two files to replace in your 1.4 version.

I'm wondering, where is the roadmap for gallery? I couldn't find one anywhere.<br />

When do you expect 2.0 to come out? I love this software, and have donated quite a bit financially, but I still am anxious regarding 2.0....<br />

If there isn't a roadmap online, it would be a good idea to decide on some dates and put one up.

Development is currently active for both Gallery v1.x and Gallery 2. While G2 development is cruising along at full speed, we're not ready to hold ourselves to any release dates yet. We would rather G2 be well written and fix all the G1 problems properly than be pressured into an early sub-standard release.<br />

You're more than welcome to download Gallery 2 right now... you'll see that much progress has been made and it will not be long before a basically functional gallery will be a possibility.<br />
