Gallery v1.3.4 Release Candidate 1 Out!

It's been 5 months since our last version was released! This is the first *release candidate* for Gallery v.1.3.4. We expect it to be very stable, as it has already been extensively tested. However, this is a *pre-release* version, and you should be sure to BACK UP YOUR GALLERY *before* installing and upgrading your current Gallery.

Get v1.3.4-RC1 now from the Gallery Download Page!

Read on for information on how to back up critical data...

We have provided a small PHP script with this version to assist you in making a backup. When you download and decompress this release, the script will be located in:

    gallery/setup/backup_albums.php
To run this script, copy it out of its location in the setup directory and into your existing main Gallery directory. Log in to Gallery as an administrator, then run this script from your browser. It will package the important album data and save a backup to your computer, in one of two formats: .tar.gz (useful on Unix/Linux systems) or .zip (useful on Windows systems).

The script gives you the option of backing up your entire albums ("All files") directory or just the Gallery database files ("Data files only"). While you should have a backup copy of all your photos, for most upgrades, it is sufficient to just back up the data files only. Note that backing up all the files could produce a *huge* file, since all of your photos will be included.

Finally, verify the contents of the downladed backup file to make sure the files were indeed saved. Once you have the data files backed up, you can confidently upgrade to this version.

So what's new about 1.3.4? I couldn't see any "new features" list in the README, or anywhere else on the site. I'm curious naturally! :)<br />

Take a read of the <a href="http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=G1%20Project%20Plan">G1 Project Plan</a> for a list of some of the new features.

If you run Gallery on a Windows box AND PHP 4.3.2. Release be warned that you may be confronted with dead galleries.<br />
<br />
With PHP 4.3.2 RC4 it works fine.<br />

If you accidentally upgrade to PHP 4.3.2 and want to go back to 4.3.2-RC3 you can find it here: <br />

I almost gave up on finding a good gallery module for Postnuke but you made me very happy :)
<br>I installed the RC1 and so far it works great.<br>Hope you get all the loose ends fixed, specially the language and admin parts.<br>
And as for a missing feature ;) a good e-card option would be cool, but no hurry, first things first, right :)<br><br>
<b>Great job so far!!</b>

Hallo!<br />
<br />
With the growth of our portal we were looking for a script that would enable us to run detailed imagebank. the older gallery versions started not to covere our needs.. and we decided to use thhe coppermine gallery. I was really very happy, when I learned about the new Gallery features - the Custom Fields - I have immedialtely deleted the Coppermine and installed the beautiful new Gallery - with it we can run our project very efectively, I can sincerely recommend!

Great release. I've been running all of the cvs versions of 1.3.4 (and now of 1.3.5) with no hitch, including all my mods, in both PHPNuke 6.5 (http://www.yankeesinthesouth.org) and PHPNuke 6.6 (http://www.yankeesinthesouth.org/dm). Keep up the good work.

So when in this lifetime is it going to support Apache2? And I mean support it decently without throwing up a bunch of errors and kinda half way working? I know you can edit the code a little, but it still errors on the .htacces. :(
