Gallery Core: Reloaded

I'm pleased to announce that we've restructured the Gallery Core team and have officially taken on several new members who have already been extremely productive on the project. I say "officially" because unofficially these motivated and dedicated folks have already been the ones driving the bus for some time now. If you've spent any time with the project you probably already know of most of these folks so gather round and give them the round of applause they so richly deserve.
The newly minted Gallery Core Team is composed of the following team members. Beckett Madden-Woods (beckett) is taking the lead role on Gallery 1.x, with John Kirkland (jpk) and Joan McGalliard (joan). Together they have already done a tremendous job on the soon-to-be-released version 1.3.4 and we expect great things from them in the future. Check out the new Gallery 1.x Project Plan to see what they're up to.

Gaile Elliott (PixelPoet) is leading the charge on the much, much, much needed Gallery Documentation project. Her docs are super sexy but are still under wraps so I can't reveal them to you here. Andrew Lindeman (joyoflinux), whom most of you know as the #1 answer guy on the Gallery Forums, is helping out the documentation effort in those brief lulls during his 24x7 forum coverage. I'm sure that many, many of you have been helped by his over 3,000 posts in the forums. Way to go, Andrew!

After flirting briefly with his day job, Pierre-Luc Paour (paour) is back in action on Gallery Remote. He's cleaning up v1.0.1 and will be pushing ahead with v1.1 shortly. Right now his team is a little understaffed so if you're looking for work writing Java application code, this might be a fun job for you. Read the Gallery Remote Documents to see what he's up to.

Michael Kleinert (lbeachmike) has been doing a terrific job with the Gallery Affiliate Program. We have profitable relationships with 6 ISPs thanks to his hard work and to all you folks who clicked the link and signed up for an account. It's not as easy as he makes it look, trust me. If you have thoughts about ISPs, you can chat with Mike about them in the Gallery Hosting forum

New to the team is Ross Reyman (rossr), our User Interface expert. Ross has been on the team for about two weeks now and has already pounded out some crisp, clean mockups of the Gallery 2.x UI. Keep an eye on the G2 User Interface forum to stay abreast of the work that he's doing. You're going to love the new G2 look and feel.

And finally, Bharat hasn't gone anywhere. He's still reeling from the sleep deprivation that comes with having a very tiny baby in the house, but he's pushing ahead on Gallery 2.x. No, the alpha is not ready. But yes, it's getting really close. We're going to slap Ross's fancy new UI on the system and hopefully write a better installer before we unleash it on the masses. Stay tuned on the G2 General Development forum to see what's happening and help us test the new product!

There are many, many other people who contribute to make this project a success, but the core team can only be so large. But I want to throw out a big thank you to Markus Illenseer (ill) for doing a terrific job of supporting the german community in the forums, Eric Wouters (bidoullier) who has done an outstanding job moderating the Gallery Samples page, Wade Lloyd (Kommercial) who has done a fantastic job of driving content from the customization forums into the user guide, and finally JoEllen Drazan (Jade Dragon) for her excellent customization tutorial. A big thanks to them and the many, many others that have contributed to making this project a success!

Leave a comment and tell these folks how you feel about them! And if I overlooked somebody above, leave a comment to recognize them!
