Submitted by ckdake on Mon, 2004-03-29 19:36
This is the first *release candidate* for Gallery v1.4.3. This version is a combination of lots of bugfixes and several new features:
• Lots of bug fixes, minor feature enhancements, and increased security
• Gallery works when register_globals is turned off
• GeekLog, phpBB2, MamboCMS, and NSNnuke integration
• Image watermarking
• Fullscreen fit-to-screen slideshow
Download Gallery v1.4.3-RC1 from the Gallery Download Page now!
Note: This is a *pre-release* version, and you should be sure to BACK UP YOUR GALLERY *before* installing and upgrading your current Gallery. Read on for information on how to back up critical data...
UPDATE: We left out the applets for the slideshow and uploading in RC1. They will be in RC2. If you want to use them, Click HereWe have provided a small PHP script with this version to assist you in making a backup. When you download and decompress this release, the script will be located in:
The script gives you the option of backing up your entire albums ("All files") directory or just the Gallery database files ("Data files only"). While you should have a backup copy of all your photos, for most upgrades, it is sufficient to just back up the data files only. Note that backing up all the files could produce a *huge* file, since all of your photos will be included.
Finally, verify the contents of the downloaded backup file to make sure the files were indeed saved. Once you have the data files backed up, you can confidently proceed with reconfiguring your Gallery and updating your albums. Make sure you remove the copy of backup_albums.php from the Gallery directory, so visitors can't make a copy of your entire Gallery!

MamboCMS, do you mean Mambo Open Source (www.mamboserver.com)?
Is the NetBPM "pnmcomp" binary available anywhere other than downloading and compiling the source? It seems it is required for 1.4.3 .. but is not included in the gallery-netbpm package on the download page.
yeah I run a mambo open source site and would love to use gallery in it. I installed this RC and no where did i see anytrhing about mambo in it other than the description of new features added it it.
We forgot to build the applets into the RC1. The applets will appear in RC2.<br />
<br />
However, if you wish to test them with RC1, you can follow the instructions on <a href="http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=GalleryDocs&file=index&page=gallery1-install.remote-applets.php">this page</a>.
Look in the gallery/contrib/mambo folder. If you have more questions about these files, please post to the forums or stop by the irc channel and someone should be able to help you out.
it is only required int 1.4.3 if you wish to use netpbm to do watermarking. Right now we are looking into adding it to our download section, however it is quite tricky to compile statically for us to distribute. The best option now is to compile from source, and hopefully we will have better options when 1.4.3 is final.
Mambo has been added to the list of Environments in the config wizard and will be in RC2. please see the bugs forum that has been mentioned above for further information.
I have watermarking disabled, yet it still requires it in order to complete and save the configuration.
We are aware of this issue. Please go to the support thread for "RC1 Bugs" Mentioned above for help and more information.
Hopefully gallery will able to itergrate with xoops. Because xoops gallery ( http://xoopsgallery.org ) at the last time i used it (version 1.3.3.3) It still quite buggy. And no newer version released yet.
