Gallery 2 Needs a Project Manager

One of the most common questions I'm getting now is "When will Gallery 2 be released?". My answer is generally, "when it's done". Unsurprisingly, this is not a very satisfactory answer for most people, but right now it's the best one that I've got. The reason for this is that the Gallery 2.0 team is still pretty small and we're trying to focus on creating a quality product. None of us are particularly good (or motivated) at project management so it's been very easy for us to keep working on the product and not worry about timelines, deadlines, feature lists, etc.
However, Gallery 2 has become a stable and reliable product so it's getting to be time to figure out the timeline for actually releasing it to the world. Here's where you come in...
2/11 Update: We've heard back from 12+ qualified candidates already! We are in the process of interviewing them and moving forward so we are not entertaining new candidates at the moment. We need a project manager, preferably with professional experience, who can join the Gallery core team and dedicate at least 5-10 hours a week to helping us set up an official plan for Gallery 2.0. You would be responsible for working with the developers to draw up the official feature list for the product, help us choose release dates, sort out which features will be in which release and keep people on track throughout the development cycle. In short, everything a professional project manager generally does (except you won't get paid in cash; you'll get paid by the adulation of thousands of screaming Gallery fans around the world).
How about it? If you're interested in the position, please send an email to Bharat and let's talk!

IMO you should do it ;)
sure, you've not the time to do all by yourself, but to me, it sounds kinda strange if someone else was the project manager of G2 than the owner of the project himself.
what about a bharat clone?
Thats true, Bharat should be the project manager, because he has all the work which must be done in his head. ;-)

I don't want to offend someone, but personally I feel, that the Gallery developers makes too much things at the same time, eg working at the same time at Gallery 1 and Gallery 2.

It will be better, if the development holds of for Gallery 1, perhaps for some weeks to bring Gallery 2 to an beta stage.

Also it will be good, if development will be focused on steps rather than working on all modules at the same time.

I think it is most important, that in the first step will be the Database design finished and tables frozen. In the second step the development should focus on the core.

Just my 2 cents. Danny
Sounds like you would be a good project manager, Danny
Hi there, I also tend to agree that Bharat would be the best Project Manager. I have previously done Project Administration and its pretty straight forward. Having the tools is the key. Here is a link (sorry I'm not spamming) just check it out they have a free version of Project Management software that would no doubt help you streamline all the tasks needed to get the Gallery 2 version "out there" link is: http://www.aceproject.com/ good luck
