The problem I've been having is simply that moving photos does not work, not in Safari, not in Mac/Firefox, not in IE7/Windows. I don't have any error messages, it gives the "moving" thing, and then it restores the screen and nothing has moved. I can log out and log back in and verify that there'sbeen no actual activity

Did you set the order mechanism for the album to manually? Check the option with "Edit album". If this is the case, pick the thumb and move it slowly between two others - a blue line apperaing between the new neighbours indicates that you can drop the picture. I too had the same "problem". If the blue line is not shown the picture will not be moved to the new place.
I'm not trying to reorder, I'm trying to move pictures into an album. Am I just doing it wrong? I assumed that dragging photos onto an album so that the album turns blue would work. I can't figure out how I'd move photos into an album with the blue line showing.

sorry i thought you wanna reorder the pictures in an album, took some time for me to figure out how this works.
Just tried that out, works fine for me. Grabbed the thumb and moved it over an album which got a blue background und dropped it there.
Maybe google gears is necessary for that, did you install this addon to your browser?
This version does not require google gears and has a couple of fixes to work better in IE. Gears is only used when uploading files so is not used when moving the files around. If you update to this version you may need to refresh your browsers cache (depending on the modules you have installed in apache).
Try this version if it doesn't work still then let me know and If you can send me a link to your gallery maybe with a login (PM it to me if you like) then I can see if I can identify the problem.
Sent you a PM... hope you have the same problems as I did, otherwise troubleshooting might be harder...

Here's a new version..
Added the ability to delete multiple items and rotate multiple items at once. Just select lots of items using the ctrl key then the popup menu will have the new menu options to delete or rotate all selected items
@Davert. I'm struggling to find out why it's not working on your version. I might have fixed your problem with this version.. but failing that I've but some more debug in so I might be able to find out why it's not working on yours if you use this version.
I actually cannot re-order the galleries from the gwtorganise module either, I can select and move the album in between two others, getting the blue line, and attempt to drop... Get the loading contents and arranging contents script... Then it reloads and nothing has changed. Tried in both IE and FF, have the latest version (11), any suggestions?
Note: I don't have google gears installed on the current computer I am on. I will try again with gears installed when I arrive home.

tis very strange.. I have three installations and all three are working fine on IE, Firefox and chrome. When I connected to your gallery davert I was using chrome and it wasn't working on that browser. so it's definitely something that is different between my installations and yours. I just can't think what!?..
I'll try with a fresh install on monday and see if I can replicate it on that. The only other thing I can think of in the meantime is to delete the gwtorganize directory in the modules directory on the install. Then copy the latest version back over again... I can't see why it will fix it... but it is something that I always do when I am upgrading my severs so maybe that's the difference between my install and yours.
@serge
As mentioned before, I fixed the issues with IE. the problem you were having was just cosmetic. It should be working fine on that now if you download the latest version here..
I've tried deleting the module directory and reinstalling. Not sure what to do next. I wish the versioning of Gallery itself was a little clearer. That said, maybe I'll wait a little while and try upgrading the Gallery installation...

Well I'll try some more investigating on monday and let you know how i get on. Hopefully I can eventually find out whats going on! as at the moment It's making no sense to me!! :S
you can check the versions of g3's database at least by going to
the cache files are the actual javascript code created by the GWT compiler. GWT names them *.cache as to allow them to be cached by the browser, to speed up downloads. Each time I build the application it creates new names for each of the cached files to ensure that the browser will download the new versions rather than using the cached versions. This is why there is a file called *.nocache.js which is the only file that should not be cached by the browser and is downloaded every time.
It would probably help if we had more precise version numbers across the board in this project. There are numerous RC1 builds... numerous GWT Organize builds showing as "1" ...

yeah, agreed. That version number I mentioned above is the database version number for each of the module... to ensure database changes occur correctly. There isn't any versioning of the code.
I'll see if I can add a build number into gwt organise (I'll see if there is a way to automate this) and the other modules I've written.
(2) The context menu of the interface as well as the message appears in the bottom asking you to install Google Gears to be able to upload, are both not translatable.

It will be more consistent with RTL mode, if the organize interface of this module get flipped, just like how Gallery organize looks in RTL.

Just thought I'd update. Today I got a blank screen and ended up simply wiping out the entire apps directory (in other words all but /modules and /var) and re-uploading with the latest nightly RC1 build. The problem remains. Quite annoying not to be able to move pictures out (at least not at a rate greater than 1/minute using the built in tools).
Edit: Used git to update to latest version on 6/16/2010 with same result.

Wanted to test this out, but it does not work on the latest release candidate for Gallery 3. I get an error page when I click on the GWT Organise tab.
@Glooper: there's still lots of people unhappy with the flash based solution so if you're motivated to keep working on the GWT version, I think that'd be a really great idea. If the GWT version catches up to the Flash one, we should definitely advance it as an alternative choice.

Has anyone noticed bizarre behaviour re: rotation? I batch rotated about 20 of 60 photos in an album. They all needed to be 90 Counter clockwise once. When I selected "Rotate All Counter-Clockwise" they rotated Clockwise. So I had to repeat that operation 3 times to get the correct orientation. Very repeatable, happened many times. Then, when I go into the album and try to click to see the full size image, the image never shows. The images that have been rotated in GWT cannot be viewed in full size(all unrotated images show fullsize fine). This is Firefox 3.6.8.
Rotating one photo works correctly for the resized image, but again cannot be viewed in full size.
I have Downloadfullsize also installed.
Now the weird part. The full size images show up just fine when I switch to IE7. Spooky huh?
Any ideas?

I can't move photo's within an album with this either. I got the new version and installed it. I have the album in manual sort - see the blue line when I move a highlighted photo but it doesn't change the position it was in. I'm using firefox, have google gears installed.

I imagine there are some interop problems with the latest gallery3. I'll try and update when we are close to the next official release.
Hi there. I am able to see the photos, but when I go to move a photo between albums, I get the following error (from the logs). I'm happy to PM login / SSH info to debug. Thanks!:
The above is regarding GWT Organise. For "Organize" I just see a blank box with no photos, and no errors or logs.

I experience this same problem with rotating (though not with viewing the full size images). I have gwtorganise version 1, Firefox 3.6.13, Google Gears 0.5.36.0, and Gallery 3 (santa fe). As emcquaid says, it's very repeatable.
In addition, I recently had a problem when the drag and drop stopped working in an album. I don't really know why it didn't work. There were already several images in the album, 60 or so, and I was adding 9 images. However, the album window didn't turn blue, as it should have, when I dragged the images to it, and when I dropped, the window just disappeared. More specifically, it acted like any other browser window would if you dragged and dropped an image in it, the location bar showed the file location of the image.

I figured it out.
in my .htaccess page I had enabled rewrite mode to get rid of index.php page.
This caused GWT Organize module to stop uploading images.
Would've liked to get rid of index.php page for cleaner URLs but uploading via the module is much more critical since it allows me to resize the images before upload.

I'm having a problem in that whenever I use GWT Organise my web server seems to hang. I wonder if it has the same cause. I could test if by changing my .htaccess but that will affect URLs that people use.
can it prettly please have an option to resize pictures before upload?

@gregschneider ... you can rearrange the album using GWT Organise. You first have to edit the album and change it to manual sort. You can then drag and drop the items around to arrange them.

The above is regarding GWT Organise. For "Organize" I just see a blank box with no photos, and no errors or logs.

How can you activate this module for non-admins?

Is there a way to rearrange items using GWT Organise?

I'm having a problem in that whenever I use GWT Organise my web server seems to hang. I wonder if it has the same cause. I could test if by changing my .htaccess but that will affect URLs that people use.

@gregschneider ... you can rearrange the album using GWT Organise. You first have to edit the album and change it to manual sort. You can then drag and drop the items around to arrange them.

is there a way to remove that /index.php/ that shows in the generated URL using .htaccess without affecting how GWT Organize works?
Thanks,
