there were (looks like) some changes how the theme variables are read ... the latest album.tpl posted above should fix the
display of the information - had you flushed your cache?

About Microthumbs in Dynamic Albums.
Microthumbs are not functionally in /popular and /updates albums. The thumbs link to the orginal album.
I have unchecked "Link to Microthumbs to Dynamic Albums" but this is not the problem.
Give it a way for that?

Thanks LFrank. That appears to have done the trick. However I have noticed there are little other glitchy things that seem strange maybe someone can help me out with:
-The "Send as eCard" link on photo page flashes between a missing picture link and text. This plugin is installed.
-The icons for "Gallery" "Album" and "Slideshow" in the upper left of the page on the album view are all disorganzied, but look fine on the photo page.
-An icon shows up for "More Options" on the item page. Which I think is controlled by "BLOCKS :: Show a "Blocks" button on photo pages (when clicked Blocks selected to show: containing EXIF, Comments,etc, will be displayed)" But when I uncheck this it still shows. This item is referenced under "ACTIONS :: Alternative text and title to show with "Blocks" button" as "More Options" for text I believe?
I suppose the best thing to do would be to wait for stable 2.2 release instead of nightly snapshot thing? I have read the instructions on configure but still have difficulty locating which file to edit to change certain aspects of display. Plus I probably don't know what I am doing. Any tips for someone not to familiar with this stuff?
Thanks again.

Another issue I just ran into: Norton AntiVirus detects internet worm intrusion attempts from the site when opening various pages such as "album" "photo" and full view photo. I have done no editing of .tpl files or anything else except copy over that album.tpl file listed above from LFrank. I verified the IP address is from my webserver. Only happens sporatically when loading pages in Gallery2 with this theme. Not a consistent issue. Any ideas?
Here is the info I get from Norton:
Details: Attempted Intrusion "ICC Profile TagData Overflow" against your machine was detected and blocked.
Intruder: (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX)(http(80)).
Risk Level: High.
Protocol: TCP.
Attacked IP: 0.0.0.0.
Attacked Port: XXXX.
Details: Intrusion detected and blocked. All communication with (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX) will be blocked for 30 minutes.
Hey Lutz! Have found another couple of minor edits you might want to make. In (local) copies of portfolio.tpl: Line24 and equipment.tpl: Line26 the path to close.gif needs to be reset to the local directory of ../PGlightbox/images/close.gif
You'll know where it's pointing at present!
Cheers bro!

Update theme to 1.2.0 - includes now Lightbox 2.0.2+ (resizes Lightbox PopUps automatically to Screensize first and shows an 'expand' icon) and fixed the issues mentioned above. Available at the top post or directly here: http://gallery.menalto.com/files/PGlightbox-1.2.0.zip
Feedback appreciated as usual

Hi,
This looks exactly like what I am looking for, however, can anyone tell me where I can download 2.2-svn ??
Additionally my host only has PHP 4, will it still work with that?
Thanks

Thanks for the tip swordfish. Had been a while sine I updated, I patched windows and now no problem.
Just installed pglightbox 1.2 and still having a few issues. Please see below. I will go into more detail.
For "Send as eCard" please visit http://curiosityconcept.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=124 for example of what I speak of. I visit your galley page Lutz and it shows icon for this instead of "Send eCard." Is there a more up to date icon or colorpack I should be installing? I installed from original pgtheme colorpack.
Please view http://curiosityconcept.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=85 for example for "more options" icon. I cannot figure out how to remove this, or organize the items in the top right so they are aligned. When I add java slideshow from admin page, it makes these icons even more disorganized and unaligned. On the photo page they are all aligned properly for a nice clean look.
This item is referenced under "ACTIONS :: Alternative text and title to show with "Blocks" button" as "More Options" for text I believe?

suspiciousblock: the modules-pack in the first post contains some updated icons for the colorpack (i.e. PGsnow - if you use other packs you might want to copy the ecard/ecardon.gif).
I've 'missused' the more options icon to open the Lightbox - did you check my site for the misaligned icons - do you see them there too?
Thanks

Hey Lutz. Downloaded and installed the latest version last night... and now I have the 'eternal spinner' problem! Never had that before. I 'updated' the theme.inc file as posted previously, still have the issue. Any thoughts?
PS: I'm on 1.1.20 I think...

Thanks, that module pack fixed the eCard issue. Don't know why I didn't notice that link before.
When I visit your page it looks fine, no misaligned icons.

I was able to fix the disorganized items in the top right of my album page... not quite sure how. I just kept clicking and unclicking items to see what they did. I believe that by disabling the show slide show icon and enabling the blocks and editing both set to right align it cleared issue up. Have no idea why this fixed it. Now after I uncheck these the phantom "more options button" no longer comes back. I don't know how I did it but I am glad it is gone and nicely aligned.
Changed this area of admin:
:::::::::::::::::::: BLOCKS ::::::::::::::::::::
Settings applied to Album and Photo view
Implemented at "album.tpl", "photo.tpl".
BLOCKS :: Position the Blocks Table that displayed the selected Blocks to show on album and photo pages on the traditional way.
BLOCKS :: Align the Blocks displayed inside the Blocks Table.
BLOCKS :: Show a "Blocks" button on photo pages (when clicked Blocks selected to show: containing EXIF, Comments,etc, will be displayed)
Seperate issue I am having, would have checked Lutz page to see if it is common issue but looks like it is temporarily down for update.
Is there a way to adjust where the flying comments and flying exif frames are displayed? I have a problem with add comment, view comment, or exif, on any pictures that are near the edges of the browser window. It displays the flying box outside browser view and you have to drag the flying box, or scroll browser window before you can view it. This affects items near borders of browser view. On the main gallery page, for author comment, when you click it shows comments centered on page. But for albums and photos it seems to show it relative to where that item is. Also is there a way to disable view comment flying frame? I see disable for post comment flying frame but not for view in admin settings.
Thanks.

latest SVN was just 'flying' in ;)
You can switch off the flying comments on album pages (or should at least if I didn't introduce a bug - I'll check)

I just installed a new nightly build of Gallery 2, and this theme. I enjoy that it has the good looks of PGTheme, and the Lightbox functionality.
However, I have what may be a rather basic question. With the pop-up lightbox, I'm not sure anyone will ever go to the photo pages themselves.
Is there a way to get the "Description" text to show below the picture in the Lightbox? I like my photos to have captions.
Thanks!

Another note. I hate to be picky and all, but I noticed that there is an xhtml valid button down at the bottom, which seems to be the case with any theme.
However, I made the mistake of clicking on it and testing to see how valid the code was. With the PGTheme, it gave me 4 errors. With the PGLightbox theme, it gave me 111 errors, on the main page. I don't know if being XHTML valid is something you're striving for, or don't care about, but I thought I'd mention it.
Regardless, I think it is a damned good theme.

I have yet another question. I uploaded two albums using the java upload applet, and then I went back in and started to edit the photos to add in descriptions. When I click on a photo that has a description, it goes immediately to the photo page. If I click on a photo with no description, I get the lightbox. I'd like to always get the lightbox. How would I go about this?

enderandrew,
to respond to your various posts... also please keep in mind i am relatively new to gallery as well so these are more of a- go take a look this might work...
-If I click on a photo with no description, I get the lightbox. I'd like to always get the lightbox. How would I go about this?
there is a link on themes admin under "album items" there is option "ALBUM :: Items - Use LightBox to go to Photo Page" that you can check which i believe will make when you click the photo go to the lightbox at all times.

On the topic of feature wishlist - one thing I noticed is that when visitors bring up the lightbox to view the photos, the view count for the photo does not get updated. I have set it up such that the lightbox is automatically displayed when a user clicks on a photo in the album view. As a result, all my photos have a low view count.
I took a look at your site today and it appears to have the same issue I am experiencing. Items near the borders of the screen cause the flying comment box to be displayed outside viewing area of browser. However it is not as apparent on your site because you have an album description shown on the left which moves the pictures further from the edge. Some of the right and bottom images however still have this issue.
Is there a way to make these flying boxes "sense" the browser frame edge and display inside the current browser window instead of outside? An example on my site is http://curiosityconcept.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=85 click on view comments on picture "bolts in bucket" and it is displayed outside of browser view, even when maximized.
When I Site Admin I find option "ALBUM :: Use flying Comment-Add Block on the Album Pages" and "PHOTO :: Use flying Comment-Add Block on the Album Pages" but not for use flying comment-view block.

I'm still having the same issues. I have activated the lightbox options and when I first upload pictures, I get the lightbox when I click on them.
If I edit the item (to add a caption) I no longer get a lightbox when I click on it. Here is the weird thing I discovered however. If I select "Edit Captions" instead of "Edit Item" I don't get that problem. So now I can add captions and still get the Lightbox effect, but I'm not sure why Edit Item breaks the lightbox.
The Interactive Frame is a frame that you can adjust that appears on the photo page itself.
I've noticed that EXIF info appears in the Lightbox if the image has EXIF info, or atleast it does in other people's gallerys that I check out. I usually scale down and crop my images and resave them before I upload them to my gallery, so I don't believe they have EXIF information in them anymore. I will take a look at the template itself and I may have to alter the template to put in the caption/description instead of the EXIF information.
The album page looks cluttered if I have all the captions in the album view, and with the lightbox, I doubt most people will ever see the actual photo page. So I'd really love to have the captions in the lightbox.
Again, thanks for all the great work!

I have a strange problem.
In PGlightbox theme on the main page of my gallery there are no links to albums, tag "href" is simply empty, but in the enclosed albums links are working. In the Matrix theme everything is perfect.

have you added the album-tree (preferably DHTML) to the sidebar?
There was a strange issue reported a few posts above - I didn't find yet why, but it fixes a similar case.
Could you please try or PM a admin account to make it run.

Found out a work around for this on accident. I just embedded my gallery in Word Press, now there is plenty of extra room on the sides of the page and this issue below no affects me to much.

Having a somewhat related problem to the quoted issue below. I don't have any problems with my pages loading in firefox. However when I try viewing in internet explorer (I know shame on me. But I am doing it because I wanted to check compatibility for my viewers sake) I have a few display issues. The most notable are the lightbox pop up not working in IE on certain pages. It just pops up the lightbox but doens't load any images. In bottom right of IE it displays a warning which states:
Line:442
Char:4
Error:Object doesn't support this property method
Code:0
URL:http://curiosityconcept/com/gallery/test/stay+clear.jpg.html
This happens on both the album and photo pages. I have tried in the embedded and non embedded version of gallery. I have tried doing this on various computers and only have the issue with IE. It has been tested on multiple versions of windows XP some with latest updates, and newest version of IE w/ latest updates as well as older versions. I know the quickest fix would be not to use IE, but is this something in the code of lightbox or can my admin settings affect this? How can I make this work for IE viewers of the page? Also still having the internet worm issue on computers that update is not installed on. Seems to happen on same pages as this issue and only in IE, was wondering if the error is causing the erroneous norton detection of internet worm?

@LFrank:
tried to install the current version of pglightbox, the one that is recommended for d/l from the user contrib page.
there's a small bug.
'value' => $params['1stActions']); on line 1262 of theme.inc.
1stActions is not defined.

@MastyF - Hmmmmm... that is what fixed it for me. I may have updated my theme.tpl file directly from LFrank's site as well. I'll try to remember exactly what I did.

@Mastyf
Have you got the latest version of the lighbox theme? 1.2.0? After I replaced ablum.tpl with the one LFrank posted a few days later I downloaded the newest version 1.2.0 update and this fixed all my display issues with hiding the "date" and "view" info from the pages. Hope that helps. But issue was resolved for me after those steps as far as I can recall.

Still looking for a solution for flying "exif" and "view comments" boxes. I thought the when I embedded in Wordpress theme it had solved that, but sometimes these boxes still show outside of viewing area. I cannot locate a button in admin theme settings that toggles this. Only a setting to toggle "add comments" flying frame. I would like to have a way to center them on the page, similar to orientation of lightbox, or make it so they somehow don't show outside of browser screen. I have tinkered with the code and been unable to find where to control this.
Also still having issue with lightbox pop up not working in internet explorer. I have read around on the forums and tried some general fixes that were posted for lighbox, not pglightbox theme-- such as replacing "showitem" with "downloaditem" with no success and messing with imageblock. For some reason lightbox works in IE on the album page, but not on the photo page (where IE displays error message I discussed on earlier post.)
@suspiciousblock: it took me quite some time to implement this behaviour ;) and find means to put the exif and comments near the item it belongs too ... (quite nice on larger screens with a lot of items). I didn't make it an option in theme admin (yet) as I noticed each of the additional if/else statements might slow down the page load...
If you really want to get rid of it look for i.e. the function setLyr() in theme.js
[nowiki]
function setLyr(obj,lyr,ofY,ofX)
{
var newX = findPosX(obj);
var newY = findPosY(obj);
if (lyr == 'testP') newY -= 50;
var x = new getObj(lyr);
expY = newY+(ofY);
expX = newX+(ofX);
x.style.top = expY + 'px';
x.style.left = expX + 'px';
}
[/nowiki]
and don't let the theme find the current positions (findPosX/Y) by setting them to a static or a value you like to see the popups.
Hope this helps you

@Lutz
Thank you. I will take a look at the code and see if I can adjust it.
I appreciate the time you put into adding this functionality. I really like how it puts the exif and comments by the item too. I may try to look at making some modifications to the theme and my layout so that it displays ok.

Hi - Having some trouble, downloaded the latest SVN and PGLightbox theme, ran through the settings, but things are not right. My page is here:
prints.robpiontek.com
Do I need to do something to install the lightbox stuff? It's not clear to me at all from the Lightbox page if I actually need to do something with this, or if it's just already integrated into the theme. Something need to be installed or turned on?
My system info:
Gallery version = 2.2-svn core 1.1.25
PHP version = 5.1.2 cgi-fcgi
Webserver = Apache/2.0.54 (Unix) PHP/4.4.2 mod_ssl/2.0.54 OpenSSL/0.9.7e mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 DAV/2 SVN/1.1.4
Database = mysqli 4.1.16-standard-log, lock.system=flock
Toolkits = ArchiveUpload, Exif, Getid3, Thumbnail, NetPBM, Gd, LinkItemToolkit
Some more info - I first installed the latest stable version, then installed and turned on the nature theme. When I installed the new SVN version, there was an error that the nature theme was no longer valid, and I had to choose a new one. This worked ok for viewing the site, but the admin area had no theme whatsoever. Anyway, I got it switched to the matrix, and, at least under matrix, everything seems ok. But, PGLightbox does not seem ok. Any thoughts?

rpiontek, your site looks like mine when I upgraded PGLightbox but forgot to change folder and file permissions to allow public access. Could that be your problem, too?

Intruder: (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX)(http(80)).

suspiciousblock,
My first thought is get rid of Norton! However, likely a false positive. Do you keep your windoze uptodate?
See if a patch for windoze fixes your issue.

Hey Lutz! Have found another couple of minor edits you might want to make. In (local) copies of portfolio.tpl: Line24 and equipment.tpl: Line26 the path to close.gif needs to be reset to the local directory of ../PGlightbox/images/close.gif
You'll know where it's pointing at present!
Cheers bro!

Last Run Details:

suspiciousblock: the modules-pack in the first post contains some updated icons for the colorpack (i.e. PGsnow - if you use other packs you might want to copy the ecard/ecardon.gif).
I've 'missused' the more options icon to open the Lightbox - did you check my site for the misaligned icons - do you see them there too?

I was able to fix the disorganized items in the top right of my album page... not quite sure how. I just kept clicking and unclicking items to see what they did. I believe that by disabling the show slide show icon and enabling the blocks and editing both set to right align it cleared issue up. Have no idea why this fixed it. Now after I uncheck these the phantom "more options button" no longer comes back. I don't know how I did it but I am glad it is gone and nicely aligned.
Changed this area of admin:
:::::::::::::::::::: BLOCKS ::::::::::::::::::::
Thanks.

How would I go about this?

to respond to your various posts... also please keep in mind i am relatively new to gallery as well so these are more of a- go take a look this might work...
-Is there a way to get the "Description" text to show below the picture in the Lightbox? I like my photos to have captions.
i think this is the intent of the "interactive frame" http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Themes:PGlightbox#Interactive_Frame althought i haven't used or tried it.
No idea on XHTML thing.

Lutz,
I took a look at your site today and it appears to have the same issue I am experiencing.

Nihilism makes me smile.

have you added the album-tree (preferably DHTML) to the sidebar?
There was a strange issue reported a few posts above - I didn't find yet why, but it fixes a similar case.
Could you please try or PM a admin account to make it run.

Found out a work around for this on accident. I just embedded my gallery in Word Press, now there is plenty of extra room on the sides of the page and this issue below no affects me to much.

[edit] Issue is related to the post http://gallery.menalto.com/node/54063?page=1#comment-203644 by ultravista which was addressed by LFrank http://gallery.menalto.com/node/54063?page=1#comment-203668. Still no fix?

Have you updated the album.tpl file? Please see post http://gallery.menalto.com/node/54063?page=3#comment-206122 to download updated album.tpl. This file has been updated by LFrank. I had the same issue http://gallery.menalto.com/node/54063?page=4#comment-209113 and this fixed it.

@LFrank:
tried to install the current version of pglightbox, the one that is recommended for d/l from the user contrib page.
there's a small bug.
'value' => $params['1stActions']); on line 1262 of theme.inc.
1stActions is not defined.

@MastyF - Hmmmmm... that is what fixed it for me. I may have updated my theme.tpl file directly from LFrank's site as well. I'll try to remember exactly what I did.

@Mastyf

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you really want to get rid of it look for i.e. the function setLyr() in theme.js
and don't let the theme find the current positions (findPosX/Y) by setting them to a static or a value you like to see the popups.
Hope this helps you

@Lutz
Thank you. I will take a look at the code and see if I can adjust it.
I appreciate the time you put into adding this functionality. I really like how it puts the exif and comments by the item too. I may try to look at making some modifications to the theme and my layout so that it displays ok.

suspiciousblock, yes. I have the latest version of PGLightbox.

Webserver = Apache/2.0.54 (Unix) PHP/4.4.2 mod_ssl/2.0.54 OpenSSL/0.9.7e mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 DAV/2 SVN/1.1.4
Database = mysqli 4.1.16-standard-log, lock.system=flock
