OK, really no unresolved problems here... this is just informational.

I had been attempting to rebuild a lot of photo images (>12000) and it was taking a long time. I noticed that the rebuild process was stalling when my admin session was timing out after ninety minutes. Waking up in the morning hoping the process had finished overnight resulted in disappointment. Maybe this could be considered an issue worth looking into?

I had the bright idea to try to set the "admin_area_timeout" in the advanced settings to a value of zero to disable it. Well, as you probably know, the opposite effect occurred. I was locked out of Admin functionality instantly after each login. Maybe this is also an issue worth looking into.

Well I edited my database directly and changed the time value and deleted the database cache associated with the value. Now I'm back to a functional setup again.

I now use the Gallery 3 module called, "Scheduler" and it works great for time consuming processes and no timeout problems. I found the download link for the scheduler module, but I have no idea where the forum page is for that module... doesn't come up in a search for me.

Have a great day...

I don't know about you but I thought that bigger numbers would have been longer. Anyway glad you got it sorted out.

I have never used the Scheduler module so have never got round to making any docs for it.
Care to help in this regard?

Dave

Turns out the scheduler is about 10 x slower for the photo rebuild operation... not very helpful. I'm gonna be here forever... maybe version 4 will be available when the photo rebuild is finished.... HA!

Well seriously, the admin timeout isn't perhaps the only cause of the "stall" of the photo rebuild. Dreamhost shared hosting seems to smack it down... bunch of punks.

You want me to write a doc for the scheduler module?? How about I just give you money... LOL!

You can do both if you like :-) Contributions other than $$ go a long way and in some instances are better for the project.

Thanks!
Dave

FYI, there's a fix in the experimental code for 3.0.1 that fixes the admin area timeout issue.
