Automagic sorting of images into albums based on date

Hi,

The current setup for my gallery is each album is dated, YYYY-MM-DD, so that the most current albums show first.

I'd like to see if there's a way to auto sort my images into albums based on their caputre dates during import, or even after the fact.. Being I have some that still need to be sorted.

if this does not currently exist, is the theory something that could be created by creating my own module?
