I have tried BBClone - only captures small part of info on usage (and I added the recommended hooks to the respective PHP files that I found from instructions while scanning forums on this topic)
I have tried Gallery Module FireStats - gives error message during install that the URL cannot be found and does not log data (firestats software is installed and tested 100% successfully with NO deviation to install location or procedures) (author claims in closed bug report (that I just re-opened) that this error shouldn't affect the operation, but either it must affect it or something else is wrong as nothing is being logged in firestats DB)
I have tried Gallery module UserInfo - best so far but I believe it misses some info when the Gallery 2.3 site is accessed via a Drupal 6 site that has the Drupal Gallery module installed to link to the Gallery 2.3 site); also with Gallery 2 USERINFO module enabled, when one logs off from their Drupal site that has the Gallery 2 Drupal module link to Gallery 2 installed, a blank logout screen is displayed (complete white space) (recommendation to fix this on Drupal forums is to delete the USERINFO module from Gallery2 - not very helpful) Even should the USERINFO module installed on Gallery 2 work with Drupal with Gallery Module installed when it calls the Gallery 2 website, the data collected is on the short side and it would nice to see more.
So ...... What else is available? I am on a 1and1 Unix account with only FTP access. This is a personal site and upgrading too much more in cost will be beyond budget. I am looking for something open source if possible and don't want to ho my site out to Google Analytics either if possible. Thanks!

Be nice and download logs to your local machine, search google for awstats and process the logs locally.

Thanks nivekiam for your very fast response, it is appreciated.
My goal regarding Google is to connect with the Google servers in life as little as possible. I don't install Google applications on my own desktop and try not to use their services, at least when I am aware of it. Just a personal choice, as I do not support the ethics of their business model or eagerness to destroy Net Neutrality. If Google Analytics is the only choice, then I will skip the analysis. I do appreciate the link however and I'll keep this in mind if I ever get skilled enough to sell my services and a customer is interested in it.
I am still open to anyone who can suggest a non-Google solution. Thanks to all!
