When this will be addressed in 1.4.1 then maybe there will be an otion to choose compression or any other variable to reduce kbyte-size of thumbnails. They are to BIG!

Or is there a way to get influence on the size of the thumbnails?

the thread is about thumbnails, so i think even if it doesn't match the exact subject it's not really in the wrong thread.

Hi jui

Actually this thread is dealing more with a customization change for the appearance of the thumbnails (removing the book shadow and replacing it with something else) rather than the size of the actual thumbnail.

Thumbnail size can be easily controlled when you first set up Gallery. The configuration wizard gives choices regarding compression and thumbnail size. If you wish to continue this conversation or need further clarification - please start a new thread and leave this one for its intended purpose.

Thanks. :)

There's no such feature in gallery. Suggest you raise an RFE

SO - I'm confused (LOL...oh what else is new!). Can you not choose your thumbnail size when you first set up your Gallery, Joan? And that size can be changed whenever, it's not etched in stone, so if you want smaller/larger thumbnails, you can change the size.

And I assumed that when you choose your jpeg image quality that would affect the "weight" of the thumbnails. More compression means a smaller file size and I thought that choosing lower quality for jpeg files would mean more compression and smaller files.

If that's not the case - what does the jpeg image quality actually do?

Gaile,

Jpeg quality effects the compression of sized and thumbnails, so if you want to keep your thumbnails small, but have everything else at 95% there no way to do it.

There should be a separate setting for thumbnail compression.
