Ubuntu user can't see Gallery in my applications

I have recently got a domain name & hosting package. I use Ubuntu & downloaded Gallery, but couldn't see it in my applications. I have googled & checked everywhere for 'basic' information. I'm clueless & frustrated! When downloaded/installed it is nowhere to be seen grrrr...

Please help
