Started with G1 2 months ago just to find G1 not the best option with over 922,000 albums needed. We have G2 up and running and have been testing its functions for over a week, and find all the up grades and fixes well worth the time to use G2 reather then G1. We have well over 922,000 albams defined. We have the list in a windows MKDIR list and also have created the directory entries. We are looking for a way to make these entried albams with sub albams up to 8 deep an automated effort reather then just a manual one.
Target OS is Lenix and mysql.

Lenix? Do you mean Linux?
You can't "convert" a directory structure to G2 albums, but you can import them. I don't know what a windows mkdir list is going to do any good for when the target OS is Linux. C:\ means nothing to Linux and / means nothing to Windows.
To import them I'd use the From Local Server method, the files would first need to be on the local server and then you an import them. By default Gallery will copy them, thus duplicating the amount of space you need. If on Linux you can use the symlink option, but you can never move or delete those original files and IIRC it may also induce a little performance hit by using the symlink option.
