Icon view not available when uploading pics

Hi guys, I have got thumbnails working fine on Gallery2 but it's a bit of a pain not being able to see images' thumbnails when choosing pics to upload via the Upload Applet nor via Gallery Remote. In both cases, when I click on add pictures, only list and details view are available. You can see from the screenshot below that the Explorer window doesn't even have icons for detail or list view - I only know what's what from opening the page in IE - hovering over the area gives tooltips.

Is there a fix for this problem or is it just a fact of life not being able to see what you are selecting?
