Picasa and Keywords

I am having the same problem that others seem to have, but I haven't found a solution.
I just installed Drupal and Gallery2 as well as Picasa3.5.
I tagged photos in Picasa.
I then used the Picasa upload module and uploaded the album.
Photos were uploaded, but the keywords don't have my Picasa tags.
I have the Keywords and EXIF/IPTC modules turned on, and have "Item Keywords" selected in the EXIF/IPTC Settings.

If I manually enter a keyword, then I see the keywords. In general the EXIF settings appear to work, as I get other things such as camera and flash etc.

The ONLY change I've made to the picasa module, is the "hack" to not use the file name for the caption that is listed on the moduls home page.

I attempted to upload a single image by using Add Item from browser, to see if this was a problem with picasa. And that doesn't work! I get no errors, and no indication that it doesn't work. It just doesn't upload the photo. I have no errors in my web server log. Turned on buffered debugging doesn't generate anything that looks unusual.

So to summarize, uploading via the picasa module works, but doesn't set the Keywords. And Add Item just doesn't work.
