Simple Gallery 1.3 to Gallery 2.3

I hope someone here can help! I installed Simple Picture Gallery 1.3, its a contribution at oscommerce. This gallery sounds more like what I want, can I install Gallery 2.3 on top of the already installed Picture Gallery 1.3? If not what must I do to install Gallery 2.3. Thanks in advance!
