I have been trying to install gallery2 onto a Ubuntu Server 9.10. I have managed to get the software to work but I'm struggling with permissions.

I don't want anyone other than registered users to be able to see any of the albums on the server. To try and achieve this I have removed all of the 'Everybody' permissions from the top level gallery folder and from the sub album folders. This works fine over my LAN but when I try to access gallery2 over the internet the browsers fails to connect top the site. I have used IE7 on windows machines at work and Firefox on my laptop.I have been deleting browing history and clearing cookies.

If I add a permission for 'Everybody' to the top level folder and remove the 'Everybody' permission from the subfolders you can access the site over the internet and recieve the message 'this album is empty'. You can then log in but I would rather the login page appeared.

I have spent hours trying to solve this can anyone help?

I have solved this problem, I needed to delete the last part of the config.php file in /etc/gallery2/config.php

All working fine now
