Album thumbnails - can I choose them?

Gallery 2 preselects the first photo of the album to be the thumbnail for the album. But can I change this? I know I can upload a custom thumbnail, but I just migrated a large collection from Coppermine, and downloading all those thoudsands of image files and uploading them just to make thumbnails doesn't seem productive. Can't I just select one of the album photos to be the thumbnail like I can in Coppermine? |

In G2, the terminology for that is "Highlight".
Assuming you're using the default Matrix theme, if you just log in, then when browsing inside an album, just click on the drop down below a photo and select Make Highlight
There is also the Random Highlight plugin if you want that to randomly change:
