Are you using the latest experimental version, not beta3?
When do you get this error? What are the steps you are taking to get this error?

Dave

@todo TRANSLATIONS_FETCH_REQUEST_FAILED HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request

Powered by Gallery 3.0 git (pre-RC1) and I pulled the latest update about 1 hour ago.

This is upon clicking "Update Translations" and it's replicated by almost all the users here recently.

We know it doesn't work. We know it's the same error. Duhr. ;) You gotta wait for them to fix on their end. So sit back and have a beer. It's gonna be a while.

ok. I understand. Any idea where to look. I'm a programmer. I'm changing things. Then share them for everyone. Now I'm trying to change the permissions of the users. I do not like the same group users can access to add pictures to others. We need a change in the user permissions.

I am also angry. This happens with GPL programs. They are free but you must wait until the fix it's bugs. Lack of documentation does not give us the ability to search on our own programming failures. You have to wait or pay or search. I want to fix I searching but...

There are enough of the Gallery crew on here to SEE this freaking thread. All I want is for someone on the dev team to acknowledge it.

How many do you think there are of us?

My count for recently active people, is about 4 (for those on the core team), only 2 of which are actively coding and 2 are support. We all have full time jobs, commutes, lives, family, etc that all need to be taken care of.

None of us get paid a single dime for working on this. We do this in what little free time we have. For me personally, I have a ton of other crap going on in my life, so from last month (even with the holidays) I was able to post on average about 30 times per day, I'm down to about 17 per day on average and that's dropping steadily.

We spend 1000s of hours per year working on this. Right now G3 is in BETA it does take people like you testing the software and using it to find issues.

I do see a problem as my progress doesn't progress. This is with a recent git pull as of about 5 minutes ago.

Please upgrade to the latest experimental code (core version is 22 right now) and test again to see what you get. File a ticket here:

Using http://github.com/gallery/gallery3/zipball/master yields: gallery-gallery3-9384f98.zip

Nothing has been updated for 2 days.

It's the same file for the past 2 days.

Everybody calm down. This is beta software and you don't have to use it.
Work is continuing as you can see form the latest commits:
http://github.com/gallery/gallery3/commits/master/
If you feel that progress is too slow you have 2 options.
1. Help
2. If you can't do #1: Find help than can.

@nivekiam:
I could reproduce the issue with the progress bar not even moving / progressing beyond the first step (which is 0 for the language update task).
This affected not just the translation task, but all maintenance tasks.
This issue is fixed now in git HEAD.

I cannot reproduce the "@todo TRANSLATIONS_FETCH_REQUEST_FAILED " issue though.

@Everyone:
If you get the "@todo TRANSLATIONS_FETCH_REQUEST_FAILED " error, please upgrade to the latest git HEAD version of gallery 3 and see if you can reproduce the problem again and report here with the results (whether the issue went away or not).

Thanks,
- Andy

Yeah....

Quote:
<?php defined('SYSPATH') or die('No direct script access.'); ?>

Is in /var/logs/2010-01-21.log.php

I have to click cancel because it just sits there. Then it says:

Quote:
2010-Jan-21 21:36:02 Update translations Stalled Scanning files admin

So as you can see it's stalling.

Clicking cancel, then resume over and over finally brings us to the same error:

Error log shows:

Windows and IIS.... I know you've heard this before, but neither are supported. Would it be possible for you to at least try Apache to start ruling out variables, like IIS?

Valiant, is there any special URL this is going out and hitting that he can test to make sure his server can hit?

Negative. I will not touch apache. ;) The other 35 sites I host on the Server 2008 R2 work fine including the Beta 3 build of gallery. This is not a windows or IIS issue. And I have all the requirements needed to run it including Mod_Rewrite.

And it's apparent it's not IIS/Apache etc, because the original poster is on a *ix box.

Maybe you need comprehension skills? Because the guy that originally posted the issue is in linux. But I'm sorry, I will call Microsoft tomorrow and alert them that it's impossible to debug an IIS machine. ;)

ady1503, can you post a link to phpinfo? Looks like it's working, but stops which to me sounds more like a resource issue.
FAQ: How do I create a phpinfo page?

Looking at valiant's commit, it looks like he made changes to help combat that, but seeing your php environment settings might help.

But mine stops the same place his does. "Fetching the updates"

It stalls.

@ady1503:
Did you test this with a fresh installation of g3 (dropping the DB, deleting var, starting over)?

I can't reproduce the issue, so I'll need access to a system where it can be reproduced.
Is it possible for me to get ssh access (or at least ftp access) to your box to debug the issue there?

@Ranger187:
I'll primarily focus on ady1503's case since it's on linux and not on windows / iis, which i don't know enough about. but it looks like it's the same issue as yours, so fixing the issue for his setup should fix it for yours too.

You clowns need to get off ur *ix kick and at least tell us IIS users what needs to be grep'd or debugged so we can at least offer assistance in providing you guys with more info. Correct. I also have a hostgator account and they will give a jailed ssh. Takes about 2 mins for them to set it up via chat.

@ady1503:
ssh would make my life much easier, i.e. i could save a lot of manual steps / time when doing the debugging.

i think i can get by with write access to your gallery3/ folder (i'll modify .php files locally) and I'll need access to gallery's var/ folder to see debugging output.
if it's a fresh installation of gallery3, i don't need any database access since there's no unknown state / data in there. so please make sure to freshly install gallery3 before giving me access.

thanks,
- andy

Dude, you just pwned yourself. You just said you can't troubleshoot a windows box, yet, you just said you could via ftp and php editing. HAHAHAAHA. CLASSIC. I forgot, windows boxes can't do ftp. Sorry. I'll just wait for you to fix his issue. ;)

WTF? Please keep it respectful. Seriously.

And let's not get offtopic here. There are other, existing threads to discuss what platforms Gallery 3 supports officially and how we envision the Gallery 3 ecosystem to enable Gallery 3 on other platforms.

I'll primarily focus on ady1503's case since it's on linux and not on windows / iis, which i don't know enough about. but it looks like it's the same issue as yours, so fixing the issue for his setup should fix it for yours too.

Valiant, I'm sorry, I forgot any os other then *ix can't debug. ROFLCOPTER! You clowns need to get off ur *ix kick and at least tell us IIS users what needs to be grep'd or debugged so we can at least offer assistance in providing you guys with more info. Or you can keep that large stick in ur bottom and pull the low ball way out and say "we can't provide support because we don't know how to use a windows machine..." ;)

WTF? Please keep it respectful. Seriously.

And let's not get offtopic here. There are other, existing threads to discuss what platforms Gallery 3 supports officially and how we envision the Gallery 3 ecosystem to enable Gallery 3 on other platforms.

Then stop giving that weak excuse that you can't support IIS when I just proved you can. You asked for ftp access at the least. Is your ftp program incapable of accessing a windows ip? ;)

there's much more to debugging than the mechanism to edit files. we don't test Gallery 3 on windows. many assumptions we make about the environment (permissions, filesystem interactions, exec, Windows specific php / mysql bugs, etc.) could be wrong.
i know much more about Windows / IIS than I'd like to. that doesn't change the fact that we don't test Gallery 3 on Windows.

and seriously, how about keeping this exchange respectful?

if you want I'll give you admin access on the gallery3. but may be the problem that the gallery is installed in a subdirectory with drupal together. everything is redirected to the drupal folder using .htaccess. in the same folder is the subfolder for the gallery?
