HELP!!! WPG2 links do not work after server crash

I have been experiencing a hell after my service went down resulting in a reinstall of wordpress (V.2.9.1). Gallery2 and Wordpress dont seem to want to talk to eachother via WPG2.

Gallery rewrites (in WPG2) are off.

All my existing posts with WPG2 links (in posts and in the sidebar grid) to images in Gallery2 are now dead, clicking them leads me to the Gallery2 address for the image but it the image does not show. WPG2 is set to show Gallery in an embedded format. The Gallery tab does not load at all.

I have permalinks activated in Wordpress (although prior to the crash everything worked with default wordpress permalinks - the ugly kind, but WPG2 no longer works with these after the reinstall)

Any Ideas???

Out of curiosity, I signed up for some free webhosting and made a completely new install or Wordpress (2.9.1), Gallery2 (2.3) with the same set of plugins (Contact Form 7, WPG2, Akismet) and found to my surprise, everything is running smoothly with a conflict between Contact Form 7 and WPG2 aside.
