adding images with ftp or using already uploaded images

Hello.
I don't find how I can sync gallery3 with ftp uploaded photos. (I already have 80Gb of photos on my web site :-).

I plan to make a link to them?

However, right now G3 will not use symlinks, so it will copy those images on importing them.
