Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object

Since two days ago, when I try to load the entry page of my gallery installation

http://www.ciaf-milano.com/gallery/

I get the following error

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /web/htdocs/www.ciaf-milano.com/home/gallery/classes/Album.php on line 1882

According to my knowledge, no operations have been carried out on the site since the last time it was functioning.

Searching in this forum I found what it seems to be a related topic (although apparently due to a different cause)

but unfortunately the quoted fix (script) is not clearly indicated, nor linked.

Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://www.ciaf-milano.com/gallery/
Gallery version: 1.6 RC3
Apache version: Apache/2.2
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): PHP Version 4.4.9
Graphics Toolkit:
Operating system: Linux (not sure what version)
Web browser/version (if applicable): Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, MS Explorer

Sorry to have bothered, I have just learnt that one of my collaborators messed up with the site and it was enough to delete his album (only the root of his tree) to get the site up and running again. Now I just have to figure out if and how I can re-connect the orphanes (the previous nodes of his subtree).
