Caption add/edit tedium: pages of 9

I hope I am missing something obvious. In adding or editing captions in (Gallery 2.3.1), one has to flip through pages of 9 at a time, starting at the beginning for that album. This is tedious. The workaround I've found is equally tedious and a nonstarter if adding a group of items (add the new items, move them to the beginning of the sequence, add/edit the captions, move the items to their proper place in the sequence).

Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
