I've been using gallery for a little while for my photos. Now i want to use it to also for video. From what I've read Gallery 2.3 (version i have) can support video, but i haven't gotten it to work. I hear that Gallery 2.3 comes with The Executive but can't find it. Also if it helps, my hosting company is Just Host and they say that they don't support FFMPEG on a shared hosting plan, which mine is.

Ffmpeg is not required to play videos in gallery. Ffmpeg only detects dimensions and if capable will capture a frame as a thumbnail.
In order to play your videos without ffmpeg, Edit Movie -> Movie Size -> Add your height/width

The Executive(or a lite version) is included in the flash video module which you can install via your gallery admin.
This player as the module name suggests can only play flash videos(.flv or .f4v).
You can transcode your videos to flv with one of the free tools mentioned at the bottom of the flash video module page.

My latest update to the flash video module will try to determine the height/width from the video stream if you cannot install ffmpeg.
It also adds admin options for player color, button visibility and autostart.
Just simply overwrite the old flash video module.
