Investigating online photo management -- Can photo files be modified through the Gallery interface?

Hi all, I'm looking into various photo management (DAM) tools, and in my searches Gallery popped up. I've been reading several pages of features and descriptions, but I can't really make out for certain if Gallery would fulfill our requirements. My main question is, can Gallery edit image files? I'm not thinking of advanced Photoshop-like work, but is it possible to edit keywords (tags), captions, etc from within the Gallery interface, and are these changes written back to the files (as IPTC/EXIF/XMP metadata)? We need a system where a group of people can access our photo library, make metadata modifications, and these modifications need to be available in the photo files, not in a separate database. Is this possible with Gallery? And if not, does anybody have any good suggestions for an application that does this? Our preference goes to a web-based application, but desktop applications may also be considered. Thanks, |

Sorry not possible with Gallery 1,2 or 3.
The google maps module will write the GPS coordinates but that is all.
The tags module and other meta data is stored in the DB not the EXIF /IPTC.
