.htaccess & config.php missing after upload for permissi

<I have uploaded numerous times the gallery folder yet I can never find .htaccess or config.php on the server even though they were on my local folder... therefore I cannot run permissions on it please help me on these It's been weeks since I'm trying to have this up un running... thanx

Give us your Gallery/webserver information to get a faster answer.
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://www.almadies.net/gallery/
Gallery version: 1.4 RC2
Apache version: apache 1.3
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): PHP Version 4.3.2
Graphics Toolkit: Netpbm
Operating system: FreeBSD
Web browser/version (if applicable): I.E. 6

thanx for the qick reply...

I have uploaded the config.php file however my ftp won't let me upload the .htaccess file as it gives me the following message...

Destination file already exists. Rename file before uploading, delete/rename existing file on the server, or enable file overwrite in preferences.

please let me know what I can do... thank you again and best regards,

Sounds like the file's already there.
Many FTP clients hide files beginning with a ".", which is the convention on Unix systems.

What FTP client are you using, and I'll scrounge up instructions on how to get "." files to show up?

Hello,

I think your problem is this file is hidden. You need to use this filter (-rtaF) in order to see the file then you can chmod the file.

I'm trying to make basic changes to the layout... as background colors but I can't see where to do it... also does the gallery work with under webpage with frames? thanx for all ur help
