I'm attempting to restore from a server crash.
I have the gallerydata directory and a backup of my mysql database, but I do not have the gallery 2.2.3 tar.gz file. The backup of my webserver "gallery" direcotry is from version 2.1 (which would be OK as no data is stored there).
If I use 2.2.6 or 2.3 it complains that the version isn't the same as the directory and offers to erase my database and data direcotry which is certainly not what I want.
I can't find 2.2.3 on sourceforge or on the gallery site. Where is it hidden please?
Help appreciated.

Here's what I'd do. First make sure you have backups.
Then edit the versions.dat file that's located in your g2data directory.
Make sure it looks like this:
Then try upgrading to 2.3
FAQ: How to upgrade Gallery2?
First make sure you have backups of everything.

I tried that, unfortunately it still generates an error as the version in the database doesn't match.
I just blew it all away, did a fresh install of 2.3 and imported my photo albums. Lost all the captions/etc. but I guess that is my just reward for failing to do a full and proper backup. ;)

oh, o.k.
Then it means that the version specified in the database was yet something different still than was was in versions.dat.
