Can't change album or global row/column settings

Hello everyone.

Thus far my experience with Gallery2 has been quite good for over a year now, but unfortunately this problem has been driving me crazy today and I can't figure it out.

It may be an easy fix and I'll feel stupid for asking, so, here goes.

I am using Gallery 2.3 right now and upon going into the theme settings either under the root gallery setup or under an individual album using the default Matrix theme and when I try to increase the values of the rows and columns of displaying the thumbnails, I get this error message at the top of the gallery upon submission:

There was a problem processing your request.

Then, above three settings further down the theme config page, this error message is printed at the top of each:

Error reading block settings. Clear your browser cache and try again.

I ran through the important stuff in the maintenance settings page and even cleared my browser's cache and even tried on different browsers/computer, yet it doesn't work.

What could be the problem? I haven't did anything different on the gallery or modded anything. I never had a need to increase the settings until now so this may have gone unnoticed.
