Things I don't find or improvements needed in Carbon theme - help!!!

From themes I have seen I picked up Carbon and set most of my albums with it. I like its looks and size handling, I like its microthumbs too but am missing some features [i]I have seen elsewhere. I have seen some relevant solutions in other threads but due to insufficient programing/html knowledge I was unable to implement them in my albums such as in http://www.ruvyamir.co.il/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=3086

Things I want to add are:
1. let viewers reduce size to fit large images (mostly panos) to their screen
2. reduce side bar width
3. add "one directory (album) up" icon on each page next to forward or backward arrows as well as "go to gallery root" icon

Problem I have had with other thread where adding a line to a file was suggested included:

1/ didn't know with what software to do it on my mack
2/ didn't know where to insert the line and if additional lines or tags are needed

Hope you can excuse my computer illiteracy and find a way to guide me for solutions

1. I don't understand. Do you want to use multi re-sizes and have a drop-down like in the matrix theme?

2. Edit album.tpl find: <td width="30%"> adjust as required. You might have to set the overflow of the css to hidden as long album names in your sidebar might force the width to be wider.

3. You will need to look at the breadcrumb file and see if you can code this yourself.
