how to upload metadata along with pictures

Is it possible to upload a CSV file to apply tags to a group of images?

For example, I have a CSV file for a school photography shoot. It includes the student's name, ID number, class, etc, and image file path. I would like to pair up the data in the CSV file with images I have uploaded.

If this is not possible within gallery2, is there a similar image management program that will?

I know it has been a while since you posted this. I have not seen any responses and I have come across a similar issue.

I am tyring to host my family pictures online using Gallery. The problem is I shoot with a 8MP dSLR from Canon and the RAW files and the JPG's they create are way too large to host. I have run a script in Photoshop called "Save for web and devices." This really shrinks the size of the JPG, but I did not realize until after I had done all of my photos that it also strips all of the EXIF info out.

Long story short I found a great app called Exifer for Windows. It will allow you to manipulate the EXIF data on the files. In my instance I can backup the EXIF data prior to running the images through Photoshop, and then restore the EXIF. It will allow you to import comments from files, etc to multiple files at a time.

It looks like what you may be able to do is use Exifer to update the EXIF prior to uploading the pictures.

Not sure if they allow links or not, but here it goes:

HHH . exifer . friedemann . info
replace HHH with www and remove the spaces...

There isn't a wiki page about this. But check out Site Admin > Plugins > Get More Plugins (tab)

Load the experimental and/or community repositories and download and install the Bulk Upload module.
