I'm going to have to start work on a shopping cart module for gallery 3 for a client of mine. Thought I'd first just check no one has started work on this already.. and also if anyone has any feature requests for such a module. I might start it simple and it will just be more of a lightbox type feature / rather than a full blown shopping cart with paypal / other payment system integration etc... but it'll at least be a start

Nobody has started on one, to my knowledge. Our philosophy here is: keep it simple, limit the number of options and the complexity as much as possible and write something that'll make 80% of users happy. Then grow it slowly to accomodate feature requests. Ask for help early and often!

For me, ability to download is a critical feature. Can't really move from gallery 2 to gallery 3 without the ability to download photos. Is there any progress on this issue? Is there a module to support the add to cart and download zip functionality that was available in Gallery 2?

Thats the cart module for Drupal. If that can be integrated to G3 you have your back covered. It supports any thinkable req. for at cart platform
