Hello all,
I just discovered G3 2 days ago. Congratulations for an impressive work !
I would like to know if it's possible to change the slideshow by an html/ajax powered one (it might be an option).
2 main reasons :
- i don't like to depend on flash if most of the features are implemented in open solutions,
- ubiquity : version pre requisites for flash can be painful, especially on mobile devices. If it's standard web browser rendering, your galleries can be viewed on almost every device.
Any pointers to do this ? Or do you think it could be an option ?
By the way, are there other features powered by flash ?
Thanks !
O.

There is no dependency on flash. Both the uploader and the slideshow degrade if flash is not available. Currently there is no option for turning this on/off.
One of the drivers in G3 was to keep the clutter/options/configuration/interface clean and simple.

regarding some of the reasons using flash.

The Simple uploader is flash based, though I believe it's going to get some changes to degrade nicely if someone doesn't happen to have flash installed. As for the core slideshow, pretty unlikely that's going to change. The Cooliris slideshow is just damn cool, slick and it's easy to implement.
You could create a module though:

You'll also probably want to install Development module as it can assist in creating a module
