I want to have "User Permissions" Rather Than "Group Permissions" for an album. The club has nearly 200 users and I want to offer them all the ability to have their own album to upload as many pictures as they want, however with the group based permission to restrict access to their gallery only I will have to create 200 users and 200 groups - or am I missing some rather basic setting that lets me set permission per user instead of per group ?? |

Not going to happen in the core product, period. Search the forums, this has been discussed over and over now. Summary, this was done for simplicity and performance. They both won out.
Possibly you could do this by a plugin so someone might create one or a plugin to create groups based on user names. Defeating the performance benefits, but allowing you to do what you want.
Though it sounds like what you really want is based on ownership. G3 doesn't yet have an "ownership" permission, but if I read a comment made by Bharat correctly it will at some point, hopefully before final release
