can I go ahead and use the Beta version on a client's site?

Hi

I have a pretty tolerant client with a small photo gallery using Gallery2. The site gets a moderate amount of traffic, amount 1000 visits/month. I'm pretty sure right now, almost nobody looks at the Gallery! :)

I just changed the host and need to install Gallery on the new host. I did a huge amount of work to customize the G2 theme so that it would be visually integrated in to the site. But, the new UI for Gallery3 is so slick that I just have to have it. The gallery is small, probably a 100 or so images.

Question is: Can I use Gallery3 or is that a bad idea on a live client site? If it's not perfect that's fine. But if it would be really messed up, that would be a problem.

I'd love to give a link to the gallery, but since I changed hosts I don't think I can access the old install.

Thank you!

Becky

Please read the Security warning and Intended audience in the stories about G3.
In the end it is up to you and your client if you can agree to what is expected.

good advice.

My opinion. Don't do it. Test, sure, in fact please do so. The more testing that gets done in different environments the better. Make a copy of the data and test in a separate database and directory structure or different site, but I wouldn't put it on a live site yet. If something gets screwed up....

@floridave: Thank you. I have read that. It wasn't enough to scare me off. :)

@nivekiam: Thank you, too. Maybe I will put a test version on the new server, mess around with it for a while and put up a coming soon notice under the current photo gallery link. Or something like that.

Really appreciate it, thanks folks.
