Hi everybody,
I installed the latest Gallery 3 Beta. The installation process runs without any problems, no errors are shown whatsoever.
Setting up a "var" directory with 777 rights is accepted by the installer.
Now I tried to upload photos into the gallery main album. The uploader pops up, I can select pictures. Selecting just one picture results in getting the "uploading" progress bar, which will run for a while and seems to finish properly. After that I click on "done" and I'm back in the gallery main album but without any pic. Selecting some more pictures at a time will get me a start with the "uploading" progress bar, while the others are "pending" and the uploader seems to run through all of them but again, no pics will be in the main album later.
I changed the owner of the var directory, I recursivly set all files and directorys to 777, changed the owner of every single file and directory but without success.
The strange thing is - I don't get any log files in the var/log directory.
Any ideas? Any suggestions? I searched the forum but couldn't find someone with a similar problem.
The system is a Debian 4.0 Etch with Apache 2.2.3 PHP Version 5.2.9-0.dotdeb.1 with Suhosin Patch 0.9.7, MySQL 5.0.81.
Open_basedir is active, but /usr/bin where e.g. ImageMagick and GraphicsMagick are located is a valid path.
Safemode is not active.
Regards,
Rudi

Still no logs at all, however I solved the problem.
It is a problem with .htaccess secured directories in need of username and password.
The flash uploader runs into a 401 error. Seems to work to slow as I get a kind of a windows popup asking for username and password but at that point the 401 error is already logged into the apache logs. So nothing will happen ...
Regards!

This isn't a scenario we've tested much (obviously!). I've filed a ticket for this: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/gallery/ticket/436

Alright ...
I would need Gallery3 in such an environment as it is embedded in a .htaccess protected website with other static html pages which need protection.
Gallery2 works find in such a scenario with the flash uploader.
If you need to know anything else just let me know.

Understood. It is not a high priority for us, though so you may have to wait for a while.

No worries whatsoever ...
If you find the time to have a look into that it'll be great, otherwise I'm doing absolutely fine with Gallery2 as well
Other than that you did a great job on Gallery3 - I'm testing it in a non htaccess secure environment - works really good!

Hi,
i can confirm this issue. I already noticed it in alpha2 (http://gallery.menalto.com/gallery_3.0_alpha_2_feedback#comment-302006).
I searched on swfupload.org and they are also confirming this issue. But it seems to be a problem in flash itself, so probably only Adobe can fix this... :-/

I have the same problem. It worked fine on Gallery2. I use apache 2 and Gallery 3. .htaaccess has Basic Authentication with username and password. In Gallery2 it would ask me for the usename and passowrd when I tried to upload.
