Hello,

I just upgraded to gallery 2.3 after my gallery had not been working for probably over a year (just a blank page at main). But no worries, after upgrading to 2.3 it seems to work fine, except this one thing. I get an error when I try to perform the built in database backup.

Here is the error trace I get (Last Run Details):

Error (ERROR_STORAGE_FAILURE)

    * in main.php at line 506 (GalleryTemplate::display)
    * in main.php at line 104

It isn't really necessary, since I know how to backup my database otherwise, but it would be nice to have it working. Any hints what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks,

In further news:

The .xml files ARE appearing in the [gallery2 data directory]/backups/

The files are around 7 MB... Very strange...

HA!

I was just looking for a solution to this problem again (not remembering that I had posted this) and googling resulted in me finding my own post!

Anyway, has anyone solved this or have any ideas?!?

The built in backup for G2 has not been extensively tested with restoration. Suggestion: use a proven backup method.

Sure, I could do that. Or I could help test this feature and report my findings so that we can get it to work.

Maybe I should be posting in another place (bug tracker), or maybe this feature should be removed from the app if it is too low on the development priority list.

Just my thoughts. I'll be happy to help debug at any level if needed.

Perhaps it should, but G2 development is totally ceased now in favour of G3, even to the extent of issuing a release to remove features that need more work. There are *no* more releases of G2 planned so we work with what we have...

I was completely unaware that a new major release was on the way. That's great news! (As if it's news and not just that I'm not at all tuned in)

In that case, I'll stop bothering everyone and let you get back to the important stuff. Maybe one day I'll even have enough time to contribute to this (one of my favorite projects) maybe by writing a plugin or something.

Best of luck!

New modules or themes, or even just popping in an helping someone out or helping with documentation. Anything is of help and all is needed.
