Keyword Album Says "Size: 1 item" For Link Item And Not Photo Count

How do I create a Keyword Album that acts like a typical album? One click on other albums shows all the photos in the album, but my Keyword Albums are requiring an extra click on the Link Item within the Keyword Album instead.

Is there a way to make the Keyword Album icon link directly to the content generated by the Link Item? It would save an extra click plus on my main gallery page it would be good to see the actual count of how many items are in the Keyword Album.
