"Make gallery look like Wordpress" - Have I misunderstood the idea?

I've seen mention around the forums of having to deal with layout and other CSS issues when doing this, but I'm having some higher level issues getting other information to appear (or not appear) within Wordpress from my Gallery setup. I thought the option would result in what is essentially a box within which G2 is displayed "as is", ie how it looks/feels when it's on its own, along with the handy stuff to link in with WP like single sign on and so forth.

I'm using the X_treme theme on Gallery (along with the charcoal color pack) which, amongst other things, has settings for controlling the display of things like available image sizes, image titles and so forth.

Not only are the colour options not displaying in the WP embedded gallery (which I assume is down to WP CSS taking precedence), but neither are these other things.

Is this simply down to the methods used in X_treme to control these items, and thus not possible to translate to WP via WPG2? Some of them are dealbreakers, but I'd rather avoid having to iframe the G2 instance inside a WP page if at all possible.
