I 've installed "checkout by email" that I founded in this forum but when I add an image to the cart i recive this message:

First please supply all the technical info you're asked for when starting a new thread, and the version numbers of checkout and checkoutemail that you have installed.

Ah... I think you're mixing two different modules - checkout (along with checkoutemail) with cart.

See the big bold, warning on this page: http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Modules:checkout

Have you set up and tested the Gallery mail system first? See the settings and test button on the Site Admin main page.

Checkoutemail is not compatible with the 'cart' module - please read the documentation I linked to above.

Relatively speaking, about the same as the difference between Windows 3.1 and Windows XP.

The one you download via the instructions on the codex page

Set your language in your browser or set the Gallery default from the main admin page.

Checkout only has translations for German, Dutch, Italian I think - and some of those are not complete.

i mean, i would like to translate the fron-end, for example

Checkout Step 1 - Adjust products and quantities

Remove items or adjust quantities here, then continue on to confirm your order.

do i have to modify any file in the folder right?

... and I dont know why but the botton add foto/gallery to cart doest show the little immage of the cart but a white little square

You should probably learn a lot more about Gallery first, including how its existing translation system works. Then you can add any languages you like to the module. I suspect this link won't help you right now, but if you look into it then it might in future:
