The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://www.thefamilytreee.ca/Gallery3/
Gallery version: v1.5-RC2
Apache version: Debian
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): PHP 4.4.7
Graphics Toolkit: n/a
Operating system: WinXP
Web browser/version (if applicable): FireFox 3.0.6

This is for a client of mine who is a photographer. He has created way too many albums and has totally overwhelmed BOTH his version of Gallery AND Gallery Cart.

I need to remove tons of albums to take the strain off Gallery and Gallery Cart but am not sure how. Gallery Cart will not even SHOW the album titles to me and I am the Administrator of his site.

I can straight delete them but would prefer to leave them 'View Only' and 'Not For Sale' in Gallery Cart.

Also I want to install a new version gallery-1.6-RC3. How do I go about doing this? There used to be an install feature for installing Gallery.

His albums MUST BE saved but he is willing to let a number of them become view only.

Thanks for any help!
M.

Hello,

At a certain size of a Gallery it makes less sence to use G1.
G2 is much better for bigger Galleries.

Gallery 1.6 will never be released. If you want to stick with G1 technology, you'd need to switch to Jallery.
But the Gallery Cart is (as far as i know) not compatible with later Gallery 1.5.x Versions, Gallery 1.6-RCx or Jallery.

G2 has a Cart addon.

I have no idea of the Gallery Cart as its a third party tool.

Hi, Tim! Thank-you for your reply.

My client has 47 albums of client photographs. He has indicated I may switch the majority of his albums to 'view only'. Because of his Gallery and Gallery Cart being so screwed up, I can't even access the GC to tell it which albums are 'not for sale'!

You suggest switching to Jallery or G2. Is G2's cart addon a good working cart similar to Gallery Cart's? I know absolutely nothing about G2, Gallery 1 newbie here. :)

Are there any links to working G2 websites I can check out to see what the working G2 cart actually looks like? Just need to see how that cart looks before I tell my client they must move to a higher level of Gallery.

They are distressed and do not want to lose their Gallery Cart; they love it that much.

For Jallery what versions of a cart, if any, does it offer? How is it better than the version my client is using now?

Thanks,
Magic

Hi,

i am sorry to say that i can't help you witht this Cart for G1. As i said, its a 3rd party tool. Maybe someone else can.
So i can also not compare it. You'd have to try out G2.

I don't know of of any Cart solution for Gallery higher 1.5.x.

Besides a lot of bugfixes (Your version is over 3 years old and ten versions behind) it has some nice features.
Groups, Icons, Layout, etc. etc. Have a look at the changelog.

Here is my dev version: http://jems.de/gallery-head
user: gallery
pass: gallery123

Thanks, Jens/Tim.

The version of Gallery I will most likely install will be v1.6-RC3.
Have already downloaded this version and looked at it.

Thank you also for providing me with access to your dev. version. It does look pretty good.
Other than display pictures, what else does it do? Are there any addons for it yet?
